AT TWO ODDS

Ashton Pearce sat in the comfortable leather chair from across Thomas Gomez, who lounged casually behind his desk in his office, a playful grin spread across his face as he sat there. The office was not so properly lit, the evening was fast coming, one could tell this through the tall windows. The rich scent of polished wood and old books filled the room, it mingled with the faint aroma of coffee from a cup that had long since gone cold on Thomas’ desk. Thomas eyed the coffee. He wasn't going to drink it. He couldn't even remember when he took that coffee. His assistant wasn't doing a good job at all.

“You’re really going to sit there and tell me you’re not interested in Elizabeth Cooper?” Thomas teased Ashton, he leaned back into hos seat with a satisfied smirk on his thin lips. “After everything that’s happened?” he asked him.
