THOMAS'S OFFICE 

Ashton Pearce stepped out of Thomas’s office and then into the crisp evening air, his mind still whirled with the conversation that had just taken place back inside Thomas' office. The idea of a mythical flower with the power to heal the dying still remained in his thoughts, but there was something more—something that tugged at the edges of his memory, something he couldn't quite grasp.

The walk to his car was filled with a silence that felt heavier than it was supposed to be. The streets were very quiet, the city settled into the calm of the evening, but Ashton's mind was anything but peaceful. He wasn't calm at all.
