CHAPTER 21

“Haha, some of you think you can be smart right?” one of the assassins spoke.

“Now, that serves as an example to some of you who think that you are smart.”

The guests' eyes were wide with terror as they witnessed Jaffet’s death.

Jaffet was well-known in the production industry and many of his employees were going to be affected by his death. It sent shockwaves into everyone inside the hall and their chests constricted with reality.

“Now, we are going to get onto business,” the lead assassin spoke.

“Like I said earlier already, if you hear your names just signify yourself by a raising up of your hands.”

“Anna Swertzmann,” the assassin spoke out loudly.

Damn! Anna was the CEO of Ibanes Enterprises, which was under Oscar’s consortium.

“Yes, Anna Swertzmann! Where is she?”

Anna raised her hands in a slow, terrified motion. Her eyes were heavy with terror and tears were about to fall off her eyes.

She didn't understand why someone would want to hurt her so badly. What did the assassins want? Where was Oscar? Wouldn't he come to save them?

Her breath came in short, ragged gasp and her chest heaved with the effort of terror as one of the assassins approached her, his feet pounding on the floor with a deadly ruggedness.

The whole hall was invaded by the assassins and it looked like they were in total control no one could come save them at that point. They were totally handicapped.

The lead assassin noticed Anna’s raised hands and then spoke in affirmation. “Yes, that’s good.”

The assassins pounced on Anna like wolves the moment they saw her raised hand.

“Please take it easy, please don't hurt me,” Anna screamed in terror and helplessness.

Anna was a middle-aged woman who was known for being an industrious CEO. Her nails were undone and one of her heels was lost in the process of the assassins yanking her with a ruthless savagery.

The assassins quickly got her tied up.

“Kneel!” she was commanded.

Anna crumpled to the ground as she surrendered to the harsh treatment of the assassins. She was made to kneel, tears flowing from her eyes as she drowned in her helplessness.

The lead assassin continued, his voice booming through the hall. “Now that’s one. The second person we need is Alison Meunier.”

Alison was also a female CEO in one of the companies under Oscar’s consortium. She was much younger than Anna though and she was known for her graceful carriage and demure.

Alison’s heart pounded in her chest the moment she heard that her name was called by the assassin.

No! No! Not her. She wasn't ready to be in their bondage. She wasn't ready to die.

Her lungs struggled to fill with air as she heard her name and her panic was a potent force.

The assassin yelled her name again. “Allison Meunier! Where is she?

Allison’s mind spun with the implications of the choice she was going to make. Her uncertainty was a powerful force that threatened her sanity.

She knew that the same thing that was done to Anna was going to happen to her but could she just pretend like she didn't hear her name called?

Time was ticking and with each moment she delayed, there might just be consequences.

Her gaze was pleading as she raised her hands slowly, awaiting the assassin’s next move.

The assassins marched towards her immediately they recognized her raised arm, their force overwhelming her as they pulled her away from the area she was in and brought her to the back of the hall.

She was forced to kneel just beside Anna and one of the assassins taped their mouth. They were like rabbits brought to the slaughter and their will was completely seized from them.

Oscar’s assistant, Layla Gonzalez was present in the hall.

She also had her head bowed like every other person and she submitted her phone too.

She hoped that Oscar would have tried to call her because his wondering why she wasn't picking up was one of the clues that he could have into knowing that there was danger in the hall.

Layla smartly hid one of her phones immediately when she noticed the assassins came in.

She knew that at one point, they were going to ask for their phones so she took the dropped one of her phones and dropped the other in the assasins’ bag.

Even though she was searched, they couldn't find the phone because she did it so expertly under her dress.

Layla cowered behind a pillar, her body trembling as she tried to conceal herself from the assassin's sight. She then brought out her phone, her fingers dancing across the screen as she sought to find Oscar’s number.

Her eyes were wide with terror as she typed on the screen of the phone.

Layla darted left and right and saw that there was a woman beside her. Her eyes were sunken with fear and she seemed to have frozen with terror because she saw her press her phone.

Layla noticed that the lady might just put her in trouble with the way that she was looking at her so she politely gestured that the woman should turn away from her.

Layla also put a finger to her lips, gesturing for her not to dare make a sound.

Her hands were nimble as she sent the message to Oscar.

[Hey, Mr. Jones, the hall has been taken over by assassins. We need help. Be careful in case you are on your way]

That was as much as she could type and immediately she was sure that the message was sent, she put the phone back where she had hidden it.
