Chapter 8: Betrayal

CHAPTER 8

Jack felt his blood boil and he clenched his fists before pulling them apart forcefully.

“What is wrong with you Bianca?” Jack’s face was red hot and he fumed in anger, mixed with the heartbreak and betrayal he felt. “I am your husband! How dare you kiss another man in front of me?”

“You are no husband of mine you asshole! What are you even doing here? I thought after you were released the shame had made you jump over a bridge or something,” Bianca replied with venom in her tone.

What?! Jack was stunned. Bianca had never spoken to him like this before. Every word that left her lip felt like a needle piercing his heart. Was this all because he was framed as a criminal? Was that why she was talking to him like this and even kissing another man before his very own eyes?

“Bianca……” Jack tried to touch her arms but Trent stepped forward and pushed Jack back.

“Don’t you dare!”

“Get out of my way! This is between me and my wife,” Jack spoke in a low but very cold and deadly tone.

Between Jack and Trent, Trent was the bigger man in size and merely looking at them as they sized each other up, you would think Jack was no match for him.

“I won’t repeat myself, get out of my way,” Jack felt his anger rising and rising. He was losing his temper like he had never lost it before.

“Haha!” Trent started laughing. “Who do you think you are huh? You think because you went to jail for a few days, you are now some crime boss? Leave now and I may just spare you.”

“Deal with him Trent! He had the nerve to attack me and Marcus, he even called his dogs out on us and locked me in here, can you imagine?”

When Charlotte, who had been quietly observing the interaction between the two men, saw how Trent looked like he could easily deal with Jack, she decided to speak up. Who was Jack anyway? Just an ordinary pauper garbage boy. Trent was the sole heir to the Garner family, the fifth richest family in Coral city.

Jack wasn’t surprised at Charlotte's lies. Right now, he was losing his cool and the entire family was frustrating him.

“Is that true Jack? You attacked my family?” Bianca was furious.

“Why is it so easy for you to believe them but not me? I’m sorry I didn’t come home as soon as I was released but I’ve been in a coma since. Bianca, why would you kiss another man in front of me? I am your husband.”

Jack’s tone was serious as he spoke but the remorse he felt for not returning home immediately could also be heard clearly in his voice.

“Mr. Man, she is no longer your wife, now get out of here. Now!”

“And if I don’t?” Jack stared Trent down as he clenched his fist.

“Hey don’t act all tough with me! One call! Just one call and I can make you disappear from the face of the earth,” Trent boasted haughtily. He wasn’t bluffing. He thought Jack was nothing to him, that he could crush Jack under his feet and nothing would happen.

Jack wasn’t a bit scared of Trent despite Trent’s power and influence and he was fed up with these people treating him below his true worth just because they believed they had more money than him and this one even had the effrontery to kiss his wife and threaten him?

“I guess you won’t take this personally then since you’re going to make me vanish from the earth,” Jack replied smugly and with that, he threw a straight hook at Trent’s nose.

Crunch!

“Motherfucker,” Trent cursed as he held his nose. Blood…there was blood everywhere. Jack had broken his nose.

“Boys…..” Jack growled dangerously. “Attack!”

Before the words even left Jack’s mouth completely, the dogs were already on Trent, dragging him down, clawing and biting him in different places.

“Please, Please,” Trent begged in tears. “My back, my foot, Ah! Tell them to stop! Bianca help me please!”

Charlotte, Marcus and Luke who had witnessed the first scene were completely stunned. They all wondered what had given Jack such confidence to attack a man as influential as Trent with his dogs. Surely now, Jack was a dead man.

“Call them off, Call them off,” Bianca cried bitterly, slapping on Jack’s chest repeatedly. The dogs tearing into and clawing a helpless Trent on the floor was like a horror movie to her.

“Come here boys,” Jack ordered and immediately the vicious and bloodied mouth dogs were at Jack’s feet again, as docile as lambs.

“You will pay for this, you will pay for this! Look at me, Look at me. As for you Bianca, I am calling off the wedding,” Trent said as his driver, who was too scared of the dogs to come out earlier, helped him into his car.

“What wedding Bianca? What is he talking about?” Jack asked Bianca, feeling very confused.
