He lost all sense of time, trapped in the darkness. He was beaten regularly, his body battered and bruised.

Despite the pain and the despair, Alex held on to one thing - the thought of Elena. He knew she would be searching for him, and he held on to the hope that she would find him before it was too late.

But as the days turned into weeks, Alex's hope began to fade. He was starting to lose himself, his mind and body broken by the relentless torture.

Just when he thought he couldn't take it anymore, Alex heard the sound of footsteps outside his cell. The door creaked open, and a figure loomed in the doorway.

Alex's eyes adjusted slowly to the light, and he saw the face of one of Mr. Smith's goons. "You're a lucky man, Alex," the goon sneered. "Mr. Smith wants to see you. Again."

As the goon dragged Alex out of his cell, he couldn't help but think that he was being taken to his death. He was weak, battered, and bruised, and he knew he couldn't take much more of this torture.

But just as he was about to give up hope, he heard a faint voice in his ear. "Alex, hang in there. I'm trying to locate you."

It was System, the AI assistant that Alex had been working with. Alex's heart leapt with hope as he realized that System was still with him, still trying to help him.

"System, where am I?" Alex whispered, trying to keep his voice down so the goon wouldn't hear him.

"You're in a warehouse on the outskirts of town," System replied. "I've been tracking your location, but it's been difficult to pinpoint exactly where you are. Mr. Smith's people have been using jamming technology to block my signals."

Alex's eyes widened as he realized the extent of Mr. Smith's operation. But he knew he couldn't give up now. He had to keep fighting, for himself and for Elena.

"System, can you help me escape?" Alex asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

"I'm working on it, Alex," System replied. "But I need you to stay alive long enough for me to come up with a plan. Can you do that for me?"

Alex tried to respond, but his voice was hoarse and barely audible. He was weak, starving, and beaten. He knew he couldn't hold on for much long.

Alex's eyes closed, and he let out a weak sigh. He knew System was trying, but he also knew it might be too late. He was running out of time, and he wasn't sure if anyone would ever find him.

Alex, I'm here," System's voice whispered in his ear. "I'm trying to track your location, but it's getting harder. You're being moved to a new location, and I'm not sure where you are."

As the goon dragged Alex to Mr. Smith's office, System continued to whisper instructions in his ear. "Alex, I've managed to hack into the warehouse's security system. I can see you're being taken to Mr. Smith's office. Be careful, he's not going to be happy to see you."

Alex nodded, trying to process the information. He was getting weaker by the minute, but he knew he had to stay alert if he was going to survive. He was getting weaker by the minute, but he knew he had to stay alert if he was going to survive.

When they arrived at Mr. Smith's office, Alex was thrown into a chair, his wrists and ankles bound by thick ropes. Mr. Smith sat behind his desk, a smug expression on his face.

"So, Alex," Mr. Smith said, his voice dripping with malice. "I hear you've been trying to escape. That's not very smart of you."

Alex glared at Mr. Smith, trying to muster up some defiance. But he knew he was in a precarious position, and he didn't want to make things worse.

"I'm not going to hurt you, Alex," Mr. Smith said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "At least, not yet. First, I want to know what you've been telling Elena. What have you been filled her with, that she loves you so much?

Alex felt a surge of anger at Mr. Smith's words, but he knew he had to keep his cool. He took a deep breath and said, "I understand that you may not think I'm good enough for your daughter, sir. But I assure you, my intentions are pure. I love Elena, and I would do anything to make her happy."

Mr. Smith's face was red with rage, his eyes bulging with anger, but he leaned back in his chair, a sly smile spreading across his face. "Love?" he repeated. "You think you love my daughter? Ha! You're just a foolish boy who thinks he can win her heart. But let me tell you something, Alex. Elena is already spoken for. I've arranged a marriage between her and Gerald, the son of my rich friend. They'll make a perfect couple, and they'll secure our family's future."

Alex's eyes widened in shock. "What?" he exclaimed. "You can't do that! Elena doesn't even know Gerald!"

Mr. Smith shrugged. "That doesn't matter. The marriage will be arranged, and Elena will do as she's told. And as for you, Alex... you'll just have to forget about Elena. She's out of your league, and you'll never be good enough for her."

Alex felt a wave of despair wash over him. He knew he had to think fast, or else he would lose Elena forever. He glanced around the room, searching for any opportunity to escape, but Mr. Smith's goons were watching him closely, their eyes cold and unforgiving.

His Elena. The only person who had shown him genuine love, since he lost his parents. She loved him regardless of his status. He couldn't lose her for anything.
