“A new deal?” Rylan asked, staring at the documents in his hands. Before him stood Lana and Leah. They were both dressed in suits identical to his. “Yes. And I looked into it after Lana had brought it to me. It looks pretty legit,” Leah replied looking at Lana. Rylan looked at Lana in surprise. “You did this?” He asked. Lana smiled, shrugging her shoulders. “I mean. You have saved my life countless times. The least I could do is give you something in return.”“This is indeed something.”It was a deal for a spot in a new cryogenics laboratory that opened in South Central. It was the future, and Rylan was impressed by it. It was something that would easily bring him a lot of income in the future. Rylan was a lover of science. He was aware that science would completely take over the world in a couple of decades and this was one of the numerous stepping stones towards that. There was no way he was going to let this pass him. He intended to be a part of this. “So all I have to do i
FIVE YEARS AGO…Jacob Whitely but his lips nervously as he watched Jain head towards the diner. He couldn’t let her do this to herself. She would be guilty after this all cleared. And that guilt was going to haunt her forever. He couldn’t let that happen. Jacob opened the car door and stepped out of it cursing under his breath. He reached for his holster by his hip and pulled out his gun, cocking it as he ran towards Jain. Jain could see a figure heading towards her direction in the darkness with lightning speed and she quickly turned around pointing the gun at the moving object. Jacob immediately halted his heels and raised his hands in the air. Jain looked at him flabbergasted. “What are you doing here?” She asked. “You think I’m going to let you do something like this alone?” He asked in return. Jain clenched her jaws as she glared at him. When she didn’t have a reply, she sighed and pulled the gun away from his face. Jacob whose heart was thumping hard against his chest sighed
Rylan Daystar was staring at a few documents in his office when he heard the sound of a knock on his door. He sighed and laid down the document on his desk. He hated it when he was disturbed. “Who is that?” He asked. It’s Mr. Dubois, sir,” a muffled voice answered from outside the room. “Come in,” he ordered. The door opened and a man stepped into the room. He had short black hair and a pair of glasses on. He was dressed in a white shirt and a striped tie which made him look quite decent. Rylan was surprised by the rare visit of the company’s financial director. He was baffled by this. Mr. Dubois had been going through the company’s financial records this month and had noticed something odd in their records. He had hurried here to show this to Rylan. Maybe he would have a better understanding of what was going on. “What is it, Dubois?” Rylan asked. Mr. Dubois was holding a blue file in his hand which caught Rylan’s attention. Whatever was in that file, Rylan’s guts told him it
Karen McCullough stepped out of the Cadillac and smiled as she stood in the parking lot of Daystar Industries. She was here once more to bask in his despair. The plan had gone well. She couldn’t believe that it would be possible. Rylan had fallen for it. That was all she could say. She wondered who was distraught he would feel when he found out that he had been scammed. It would feel devastating. That was the same she had felt when she realized she had been the cause of her father losing his company. She had convinced him it would be a good idea. At that time, they didn’t have any other choice but to hand it over. Karen had been assured that Edward would be helpful, but that didn’t go as planned. Edward wasn’t in town. He had gone to New York on a business trip. It was now left for her to make sure that this plan of theirs would kickstart their comeback. Karen walked it to the building heading towards the elevator. She was well aware of this environment because she had visited it a
Williams gazed at the monitor screen one more time to be sure of what he was looking at. He feared that old age was getting to him and he was slowly losing his sense of sight. Before him was a bunch of hospital documents. Documents that would be useful to Rylan. He had been out looking for new information on the whereabouts of his real parents. And he had found it. Just over three hours ago, he had made contact with an anonymous source who had gotten him this information on a flash drive. Williams had paid a huge sum of money to get his hands on this, but he knew it would be helpful to Rylan. He printed the documents and waited for them. A few minutes later, he was going down the stairs with a bunch of papers in his hands. Rylan had arrived just over an hour ago. He looked exhausted when he returned. Williams knew this would brighten his mood. After being scammed, Rylan had been down for a few days. And when he turned, he looked the same way. Whatever was bothering him seemed worse
Jain could feel her heart throbbing as she knelt beside the body of Jacob. She held his hands and realized they were ice cold. He wasn’t breathing, and there was blood all over his shirt which was oozing out of holes that were bored on several spots on his torso. Jain’s hands were shivering as she touched his cheeks. His body was hard and cold. She couldn’t believe this was happening again. It couldn’t be. She couldn’t lose another partner. Not this time, but she knew it was already too late. Jacob was gone, and he wasn’t coming back. Jain stopped touching him and looked at her hands. They were trembling and were stained with his blood. All of a sudden, Jacob’s body was gone and she was alone in the parking lot. The street lamp above her flickered and went off making everywhere dark. A few moments later it came back on and Jain could see another body lying before her on the tarmac. It was hers, and there were multiple gunshot wounds on her torso just like Jacob’s corpse. Jain looke
“Cheers!” The sound of glass clinking was heard next. Seth was all smiles as he sipped his champagne. He couldn’t believe it. It worked. They had successfully made Rylan pay for one of his crimes. Seth never knew that it would be that easy. All they had to do was to join forces together and it was successful. When he had first heard Carlos’s plan, he thought it was going to be like the rest of the ones they had come up with. Their plans were usually futile and never made it to Rylan. But this one was different. This time they had been able to get the better of Rylan Daystar, and they owed it to all themselves. Carlos was smiling as he sipped his champagne. They were all in his huge living room. Frederick, Karen, and Seth. He was amazed that he had been able to assemble all of them. The unstoppable Rylan Daystar had been halted just for a brief moment. But it was worth it. They had done their best to come up with that plan. Karen had been the instigator. She had mapped it out and it
Dr. Mathew Meyers walked through the underground parking lot of the hospital as he headed toward his vehicle. It was quiet and he could hear the sound of his footsteps echoing through the parking lot. His heart was thumping hard against his ribs. He wasn’t supposed to be here, but here he was. In his hands was a black briefcase which seemed important to him because he held it tight against his chest. His eyes caught something a few feet away from him; his vehicle. He smiled and approached it. Dr. Meyers jammed the key into the lock and opened the door, stepping into the car hurriedly. He couldn’t get caught here. If he did, he would be in so much trouble. He ignited his car and reversed out of his parking space. As he looked up at his rear mirror, he caught a figure standing behind his vehicle. The figure was dressed in a black suit and had a black mask concealing his identity. His heart squeezed in fright as the realization hit him. He had been caught!Dr. Meyers switched the gear
