Detective Reynolds stepped out of the Acura and gazed at the big building before her. She was standing in front of Daystar Industries. Her hands were in the pockets of her brown leather jacket as she took in the building. It was gorgeous. It was by this that Jain finally understood Rylan’s cocky attitude last night. He had seemed egocentric just like every other rich billionaire she had faced in the past. With a building of this elegance, it was hard to stay humble. Jain shook her head and walked into the building.

She was here to interrogate Rylan. Just a few questions was all she needed from him. That was it he would be willing to cooperate. It was hard for her to get some sleep last night, especially with the late-night call she got from Stanley. He had apologized for being a jerk. That was the second time in a row, but who was counting? There was something off about Rylan. When she found his file, her perspective on him changed. There was something she was hiding from the cops, a

“Why are we going in here,” Edward asked as Karen pushed him into the study room. “Because I need to talk to you in private,” she replied in almost a whisper. Karen looked at the hallway to make sure that no one had been following them. When the cost was clear, she shut the door and turned to her brother who was glaring at her with his arms folded. Edward was appalled by Karen’s behavior. He had never seen this from her. Maybe being away for almost ten years had changed her a lot. She was no longer that little girl that was always timid. She was bold and insightful which amazed him. But what frightened him was her secretive attitude. “What is going on, Karen?” Edward asked as he watched her walk past him. Karen ran her fingers through her black hair and sighed. She had called Edward back here to help them out, and it turned out to be a bad plan. There didn’t seem to be any progress like she had expected. This made her feel guilty. She may have just handed out her father’s compan

Eve McCullough stared at her reflection in the mirror as she combed her hair by the dresser. Her mind was racing with thoughts, particularly with how things were going on now. Her family was always keeping things from her which was appalling. She didn’t feel part of them anymore. The only time she got information was when there was a general meeting. Nobody came to talk to her. She felt used by everybody. It was absurd because she was always the one sought after while she was married to Rylan. They were always on her, telling her that Rylan was bad for her. She had finally heeded their advice and divorced him, but that finally seemed like a dreadful action. She could remember how mortified Rylan had felt at the dinner table when Frederick had announced that he was fired. Eve couldn’t do anything about it, and five days later, she had divorced him. It seemed like a good thing that time, but as she thought about it now, her mind was filled with doubts. Karen had been the one who insti

No. It couldn’t be true! Eve thought to herself. She was staring at her ceiling as she lay on her bed. It was daybreak now, and the morning sun bathed her room in all its glory, and Eve was okay in her thoughts. She could barely get any sleep last night. Her mind was filled with thoughts. How could she be blind to all of these? It had been obvious from the start but she couldn’t see it.Her family was using her just the same way Rylan did. It was hard to process. Were the documents she found on Rylan even true? She didn’t have a clue. Right now, she couldn’t believe anything. She had been suspicious about Karen offering to help her with Rylan. She should have known that it was all a trick. Even her father had a part to play. Eve gritted her teeth as she thought about this. He had let his hate for Rylan blind him and deny her of her happiness. He had fired Rylan and forced her to divorce him. Knowing that she wouldn’t budge, he had made Karen convince her with those documents on Rylan

Rylan slammed his hand on the punching bag and watched it. The punching bag that hung from the ceiling shook slightly. Rylan clenched his jaws and slammed his other fist on the punching bag once more. His hands which were concealed in boxer’s gloves were held close to his face now. This was the only way to beat the frustration he was feeling. He was exhausted from looking for information about the cartel. The information from Dayton was pointless. He couldn’t use it to find them. Rylan was running out of patience, he needed to exert his revenge on the cartel soon. He wanted it to be swift and easy. But that didn’t seem to be likely. The Valdez cartel seemed to be more dangerous than he thought. They just weren’t in Los Angeles but in other states such as Colorado, Texas, New York, and even Atlanta. It was crazy that Ernesto had built a cartel as big as that. Rylan was envious. He had the resources to do so, but there were many risks of having a long family of people to protect. It co

Rylan Daystar held the steering wheel tight as he stared at the road before. His eyes fell to the GPS in his dashboard and it displayed the address he had gotten from the anonymous tip. That had been five hours ago. Now he was speeding through the streets of Los Angeles in his black Lamborghini as he headed towards the address. Rylan’s mind was racing as he drove through the streets. He was having second thoughts about this. Who would be so kind as to send him the location of the most sought-after criminal in the state? It sounded like a trap and that was what Williams had told him just as he stepped into his car. That didn't matter to Rylan right now. He had to see for himself. He swerved into another street and his eyes fell on the GPS once more. The address that was currently pinned on the GPS became bigger with each stride Rylan’s car took. Rylan’s mind went back to the mail. Who could have possibly sent it to him? Who had such information on the cartel and had sent it to him inst

In the dimly lit room was a round table with all the casino shareholders seated. Seth was present and he was contemplating what to do with Rylan. His last statement at their previous meeting had raised a few eyebrows. He knew that some of them here were uncomfortable with having to get rid of Rylan, but it was the best plan they could come up with. If they couldn’t take Rylan down, there wouldn’t be a casino left for them. It was the best option they had. Five nights ago, Rylan’s club had been attacked, and some of them felt it was him. That was the genesis of the tension in the room. It seemed nobody here trusted each other which was detrimental to their plans. If trust couldn’t be rebuilt soon, it would be best if they kissed the casino goodbye. “Did you guys hear about Rylan’s club being completely gunned down?” Noah Sutton asked. “Yeah, I did,” another man said. Seth’s eyes went to him. It was Cody Hawthorne. A dirty blonde-haired man with a funny mustache but brilliant brown

Lana Pierce was like a goddess in human form. Her slender olive skin, short black hair and hazel green eyes all together made her look like she was an anomaly to nature. She was stunningly gorgeous and her high cheekbones gave her face a menacing look. She was always so calculative and knew how to sense danger. That was one of her strong attributes. When Lana had heard of Seth’s plan to take down Rylan, she backed down immediately. It wasn’t something she would want to do. Taking down the billionaire who was planning to take down your casino was one of the most obvious murder crimes ever. It wouldn’t take long for the police to discover them, and Lana didn’t want to be a part of it. That was why she was in one of the elevators in Daystar Industries heading towards the top floor. She was planning to meet Rylan and report this to him. He had to know about this. If they were planning to murder him, he at least should be away. Lana’s fragile conscience wouldn’t let her become a part of

“What are we going to do about her?” Noah asked. Seth stroked his chin as he thought of this. Lana had stormed out of the meeting after she had refused to cooperate with them. It felt like she was going against them. This worried Seth. She could ruin everything. “What if she tells the cops?” Cody asked, barely hiding the fear in his voice. Seth sighed and rubbed his eyes as he contemplated what to do. There was no way that Lana was going to do that. Though she was against them presently, he knew her for being reserved. She wouldn’t just go to the cops and without any evidence. She was very calculative of whatever she did. “Don’t worry about that,” Seth replied. “I don't think she will, and if she does, there’s no evidence she has to back up the allegations. She will be sued for defamation. I’m very familiar with you Lana. She wouldn’t do anything stupid.”“So we just let her go?” Noah asked, and for the first time, his voice sounded a bit hasty. Seth shrugged. He didn’t know what

In his hand was an FN 5’7. The man in black pursued him endlessly. When the Italian man stopped for shelter, he pulled out his gun from the pockets of his leather jacket and aimed at the man in black. “Rylan. Watch out,” Williams called in his ear. “Holy shit!” Rylan yelled on his breath as the man pointed the gun in his direction. Two shots were fired and Rylan managed to dodge the bullets before they could hit him. “Are you sure this is our guy?” Rylan asked. “Affirmative. Dominic De Rossi,” Williams replied through the comms. “I just hope you’re right.”“When have I ever been wrong?”Rylan rolled his eyes and fired back at Dominic. The shot whizzed past Dominic’s head and he scrambled to his feet immediately. Rylan saw this and decided to go after him. They were on the main stre

“They let you in?” Jain asked. “Of course they would.”Jain sighed and drank her cappuccino. They were both seated at a table in the cafe. It was at their favorite spot—the table by the window. It had been two days since Rylan had spoken to Frederick. He could still remember the shock on his face when he told him he had forgiven him. It wasn’t something that Frederick had expected. Frederick was aware that he despised him, but there was no need to keep that grudge anymore. The battle had been won. The best thing he could do now was move on and that was ok his agenda. Jain shook her head in disbelief. She was baffled that they would let Rylan into the prison to speak to Frederick McCullough. Well, he was Rylan Daystar. “So what did you tell him?”Rylan lifted his cup of cappuccino and took a sip from it. His eyes went to the parking lot outside the window. The morning sun washed all the cars there with its glorious light including his black Audi. “I told him that I forgave him.”Ja

“I thought we were going to head back home?” Jain asked as they headed into their Airbnb. “Well, Los Angeles is a two-hour flight back, and my pilots are off duty for the night,” Rylan said, closing the door behind them. Jain sighed and rubbed her neck nervously. She couldn’t remember the last time she had been in a room alone with a man. That had been with Jacob; five years ago. Rylan took off his suit jacket and hung it on the cloth rag before folding his undershirt. “If this makes you uncomfortable I could get a different room for myself.”Jain turned to him. “You could do that?” She asked. “I mean, there’s no need for that.”Rylan arched an eyebrow at her as he folded his sleeve once more. “Okay. If you say so.”Jain nodded and proceeded to the fireplace. She was gazing at the crackling fire as she held her shoulders. It brought her soothing warmth. There was a center table in the small living room and on it was a bucket of ice with a bottle of champagne sitting in it. “Wou

The party was lavish. There were lots of special dignitaries who filled the scene. The paparazzi wouldn’t stop flashing their cameras at them. This was the biggest party in the city. It was an awards party which would explain why there were so many famous people. A black Lamborghini arrived at the scene and halted on the red carpet. The door lifted and a figure stepped out of the car. It was Rylan Daystar who was dressed in a charcoal black suit with floral patterns and a shawl which was tied at his waist. He looked like a Frenchman. He moved to the other side of the car and opened the door. A woman stepped out of the car all dressed in a white gown. It was Jain, and she had a new look. Her platinum blonde hair which was always long was cut short now making her look dangerously beautiful. Rylan smiled as he watched her close the door of the Lamborghini. A valet came forward and Rylan threw the key to him. “Make sure you take good care of her.”“Yes sir,” the valet said, getting in

Arlene raised an eyebrow at this. “Come in,” Rylan appeared to be speaking to the door until a figure stepped into the room.As Arlene saw the figure, she immediately flashed back. There was no way this was happening. He was real, and he was still alive. He was Paul Richmond. Arlene tried to speak but no words could converge. Paul looked at her and smiled. “Hey, Arlene,” he greeted. Arlene tried to look away but she couldn’t. His voice brought back so many memories. “Do you have jitters?” Detective Jain Reynolds asked. Rylan turned to surprise. “Of course not.”“Well, you’ve been talking about your thigh for the last two minutes.”“I’m just anxious.”Jain turned to him. “About what?”Rylan kept silent for a few minutes to think about it. “About this, I guess?”Jain scoffed at his words. “You’ve been in front of a crowd a million times. This is the same thing.”“Well not exactly. I’ve never been in front of a crowd filled with police officers.”Jain laughed at his words. “Rylan Daystar is being intimidated by a crowd of police officers. Who would have thought?”Rylan rolled his eyes and placed his hands before him. They were both standing in a room alone. In a few minutes, they would be taken outside to be handed the key to the city. Rylan wasn’t exactly sure why he was there. When Jain had first told him about this at the cafe? He quickly declined the offer. The city saw him as a hero. But he wasn’t. He had so many flaws that would prevent
