CHAPTER 32

“Why are we going in here,” Edward asked as Karen pushed him into the study room.

“Because I need to talk to you in private,” she replied in almost a whisper.

Karen looked at the hallway to make sure that no one had been following them. When the cost was clear, she shut the door and turned to her brother who was glaring at her with his arms folded.

Edward was appalled by Karen’s behavior. He had never seen this from her. Maybe being away for almost ten years had changed her a lot. She was no longer that little girl that was always timid. She was bold and insightful which amazed him. But what frightened him was her secretive attitude.

“What is going on, Karen?” Edward asked as he watched her walk past him.

Karen ran her fingers through her black hair and sighed. She had called Edward back here to help them out, and it turned out to be a bad plan. There didn’t seem to be any progress like she had expected. This made her feel guilty. She may have just handed out her father’s compan
