Mark settled in in his new office after his manager showed him around and helped him settle in. He left Mark all alone to arrange the office to his taste in case it wasn't arranged as he wanted.
Mark was still on it when one of the workers barged into his office without knocking and immediately he knew the person would be a trouble marker and might be his problem here in the office.
"Hey newbie, what are you doing?" He asked Mark as he hung around the door.
Mark turned to look at him, he was a young man in his early thirties and he reasoned that he might be one of those friendly workers who like making friends.
"I'm rearranging my office. I didn't like how it was arranged," Mark said and pushed the desk to the position he loved.
"Don't you think you are wasting your time? Is it necessary?" The man asked him which made Mark look at him before he turned away with a slight smile on his lips.
"Of Course, it is because anyone would do it, including you. Imagine you starting new in another company and you are being given an office in which you don't like how the interior was arranged. Wouldn't you do something about it," Mark asked him as he stood up and walked towards where he abandoned the office chair.
He grabbed it and carried it to the new place he placed the desk.
"I would but wouldn't here because it used to be my office," the man voiced out.
"I was the one who arranged it the way you saw it," he added.
"Oh, you are Mr. Davis, the former director of the marketing department. I can now relate and know why you are saying all this. I'm sorry but since this is my new office, I have to rearrange it," Mark said to him.
"I know but I wanna ask, do you think you can handle this position? Do you even know what marketing is all about? How busy the director in charge is and how stressful it can be. I mean you also have to be extremely careful with everything so a slight mistake here wouldn't cause the company loss because this is one of the important places that hold the company," the man who Mark identified as Mr. Davis said.
Mark listened keenly to him, he seems like someone who loves the company because if he doesn't, he wouldn't bear saying all this to Mark to make Mark know what he was getting involved with.
"I appreciate you so much Mr. Davis, thank you for saying all this. It would make me more serious than ever as I have known that my position in the company isn't a joke and should be taken seriously," Mark replied with a smile and immediately Mr. Davis's countenance changed.
He was trying to scare Mark and make him think that the position would be a big deal for him so that he would back off and then the manager would ask him to take back the position but it seems like Mark wasn't ready nor the type to do so.
"Just be careful and keep making everyone happy and proud. My eyes are on you," Mr. Davis said and turned to leave.
On the way to his office, he sulked like a child. He couldn't still point out why the manager removed him. He was good, no doubt, and the company has been doing okay too when he was the director of the marketing department. He was trying to know the reason why the manager would remove him and put in a new person whose physical appearance isn't even worth it.
He looks poorly educated and rather unfit for the position. He gritted his teeth at his new office in the finance department. He didn't even care to reply to any of the workers who were greeting him on his way back to his office.
He felt like squeezing Mark alive as he thinks he is prideful and full of himself. He would never watch him have that position in peace, he said to himself.
"I must work towards getting him removed. I have to show the manager how incapable he is which would make the manager remove him, he concluded and got into his office.
Shortly his personal Assistant walked in.
"Sir, you have a meeting with the financial team. Where should I set it up?" She asked.
"I'm not interested," Mr. Davis replied.
"But sir, it's an important one which you asked me to convey to the team about how important the meeting is this morning," his personal Assistant replied.
"I said I'm no longer interested. Can't it be held some other time, is it a must that it would be held today? Now go tell them it has been postponed. Don't forget to get me a cup of coffee and snacks," Mr. Davis said and relaxed on his office chair.
"Yes sir," his personal Assistant replied and walked out.
"Hey man, I overheard you passing aggression on your personal assistant, is there anything wrong with you or bothering you?" Mr. Ben, his only buddy in the company, asked as he came in.
"Hey," he called back before saying.
"A lot, I'm disturbed and don't like my new position. It was bossier over there," Mr. Davis said to Ben.
"You mean your former position?" He asked.
"Of course," Mr. Davis replied.
"But it has been occupied already. Why worry about it, do you know how much benefit you would get here? Since I came to this company, this position you are in now has been my target," Mr. Ben said.
"What do you mean?" Mr. Davis asked him.
He walked closer and whispered some words into Mr. Davis' ears which made him gasp in shock before his expression changed to that of happiness.
"That's why I like you, you are so wise," Mr. Davis Ben.
"That's why I will always be here and don't forget who brought the idea when it starts working for you," Mr. Ben said.
"Sure," Mr. Davis replied. He waved him goodbye as he left.
His personal Assistant walked in and handed the coffee over to him.
"Thank you," he said and took it. His personal Assistant bowed and quickly left.
"Smart buddy, why hasn't this occurred to me since, I would have already set up plans. I was busy sulking over my lost former position. Don't worry Mr. Mark, either way, I'm going to deal with you," he said with an evil grin.
Mark was already done with arranging his office. He sat down and started glancing through the documents on his desk to familiarize himself with them. While on it, one of his colleagues came in.
They exchanged pleasantries before he handed him a cup of coffee.
"Welcome to our company Mr. Mark, we hope that you take us to greater heights," the man said.
"Of course, I will do my best," Mark promised with a smile as he took the coffee from the young man.
"I'm Matthew, nice to meet you," the young man introduced.
"I guess you already know my name, it's also nice to meet you too," Mark said as they shook hands.
Mark returned home from his first day at work very tired. He went straight to shower and settled to have a nap without even bothering about dinner which got Michelle worried. She walked to the bed after preparing dinner and went to sit by his side."Was today so stressful that you want to go straight to bed?" She asked him."Yes, it was. I spent most of my time trying to know how everything in the department I'm working in works. It was a whole lot of stress that I lost my appetite for food while on it," Mark replied."But you still have to eat something. No matter how you feel, I cannot watch you go to bed on an empty stomach," Michelle said to him."I'm very tired, my body aches," Mark murmured like a child and didn't bother to stand up.Michelle thought about what to do and how to change her husband's mind. Sometimes he acts like a child and when he does, it was always hard to make him change his mind about something he wasn't interested in.She climbed up his back, surprising Mark
Elizabeth, who wasn't happy with Mark, started thinking of how to make Mark and Michelle break up. She had already found another suitor for Michelle and the suitor was willing to marry her even as she was pregnant. She had been restless and had also been thinking about it, as it left her troubled. She dropped the spoon she was making use of to eat lunch. She needed a strong aid for sin in law and not a weakling like Mark who cannot amount to anything. She cannot even be able to run to him in times of need which pissed her off. She asked the maids to take the lunch away as she had lost her appetite. While thinking of what to do, she remembered overhearing Michelle pleading with her landlord on the phone the other day to give them some more time to pay the house rent as it had expired.Elizabeth smiled and became filled with happiness, she had just known the means she can be able to achieve what she wants. She asked a maid to bring her phone which the maid quickly did. She reached the l
On their way to Elizabeth's place, Michelle started showing signs of having a cold and fever which got Mark scared. He tried to warm her up by wrapping his hands around her in addition to the pullover but it never helped her condition, it only got worse which got him scared to the guts.Luckily, there was no traffic jam on the way so they were able to get to Elizabeth's place before nightfall. Mark was allowed to go in by the security personnel and he sat in the living room with Michelle waiting for Elizabeth. One of Elizabeth's maids went to inform her of Mark and Michelle's presence which made her smile. Just as she had expected, they showed up. She quickly rounded up what she was doing as she couldn't wait to see her daughter again but on the thoughts of Mark, she frowned deeply, biting her lips.He was a huge threat to her which she wouldn't deny and he had already planned to use this opportunity to remove him from Michelle's life. As she had come back home, she would never go bac
The next day, Mr. Peter went to see Mr. Jude at his home. He had booked an appointment with Mr. Jude on the phone and he asked him to go over to his home office where he meets with people who want to have anything to do with him.Mr. Peter prepared very well for the proposed deal, he had already concluded that he wasn't supposed to lose to help Mark but if he did lose, he would have to take the second alternative which was on his mind.He drove out with his driver behind the wheel heading to Mr. Jude's place. Mark, who woke up very late due to drinking too much alcohol last night, couldn't wait to have breakfast at the penthouse. He quickly took his bath, picked up a suit from the wardrobe, dressed up, and left.He managed to buy some snacks on his way and decided to eat them in the office. He called Mr. Peter to know how things were going.Mr. Peter informed him that he was on his way already to meet Mr. Jude whom he had already booked an appointment with. Mark wished him good luck
Mark went to meet the manager to know about the announcement he made and other developments to be prepared for anything. The manager welcomed him and explained everything to him which he saw as a very good idea. They talked about other things and the manager promised to make sure he informs him of anything he has in mind to do before announcing it so he can be able to share and contribute his ideas as the company owner.Mark thanked him and left after making him know he would be leaving early. He later left around the evening as he wanted to meet up with Michelle and spend some time with her before his mother-in-law who he guessed was out would return and meet him.Mark thought about something he would buy for Michelle. He remembered that he needed to give her something special as it had been a long time since he got a gift for her.He searched his wallet and found one of his black credit cards."Please take me to the best Mall in town, I need to do some shopping," Mark declared and
Before Mark could get to his mother-in-law's place, she was already back.He wasn't allowed to go inside as his mother-in-law was already back. It pissed Mark off and he had no other choice than to leave, hoping to come back later when he gets the information that she has left the house.Michelle managed to go meet her mom in the sitting room to ask her why she hated Mark so much because it was getting out of hand and she didn't like it.She sat beside her and relaxed on the couch."Mom, can you please be sincere with me? Why do you hate Mark so much? He has never offended you but you have chosen him and whenever I think about it, I cannot seem to understand," Michelle said with a dull expression on her face."My princess, I wish you would understand," Elizabeth replied with a deep sigh."Tell me about it and I will have to because this hatred is more than him being a poor son-in-law," Michelle said to her mother."I know and I have to hide the reason behind my hate for him because I d
After a thirty-minute chauffeured drive, the family alighted at John’s also expensive mansion which was situated in a secluded area, with minimal houses in sight. The couple shared a look before proceeding into the mansion. There in the upstairs lounge was John seated, engrossed in a magazine with a cigarette stick pressed against his lips.“Parker? What a surprise. You didn’t tell me you were coming over.” John said, looking away from his magazine on noticing his good friend’s presence.“I’m only here with my family without prior notice because there’s trouble,” Parker explained, putting his hand over his wife’s shoulders.“Trouble? Why!” John exclaimed, setting down his magazine.“They’re after the Safe. I swear, they’ve been following me all day and I feel it’s time I return the Safe to Texas, I shouldn’t have brought it back in the first place all it has done is endanger my family and myself.”“ So I presume you’re here to have me take it to Texas,” John asked, puffing out wisps
John left the lounge and scurried into another room. Less than a minute later, he was back with two rifles and then locked the door behind him. He tossed one to Mr. Parker and kept one for himself.“We are going to fight,” John said and cocked the gun. Mr. Parker didn’t want a debate. He had been skeptical all along about giving up his life thing and this seemed like a better idea. Mr. Parker proceeded to open the briefcase and take out the locket then slid it into the pocket. He nodded to show her was ready for the battle. Such confidence.“So what do we do now?” Jenna asked and just as John was about to answer, they heard gunshots followed by sharp painful outcries coming from downstairs. They were the voices of the housekeepers and maids. They were just murdered. This increased the frightful mood in the room but the two men seemed fairly confident that nothing was going to happen to them and their families, after all, they were armed. It is foolish of them to think that two ri
