Since her mission to get Mister Burno to sign the contract has failed, Adriana sadly returns to New York. She calls in sick to the office because she doesn't want her grandfather to confront her. If he finds out that Mister Burno still doesn't want to sign the papers, she is going to be thrown out of the family. She remembers growing up in a house that barely had food and also lacked warmth in the winter. She hated her parents and swore that she wasn't going to be like them.
