Since her mission to get Mister Burno to sign the contract has failed, Adriana sadly returns to New York. She calls in sick to the office because she doesn't want her grandfather to confront her. If he finds out that Mister Burno still doesn't want to sign the papers, she is going to be thrown out of the family. She remembers growing up in a house that barely had food and also lacked warmth in the winter. She hated her parents and swore that she wasn't going to be like them. So when Mister William Sanchez offered her the opportunity to leave them, she didn't even think twice about it. Now that she has tasted the good life, she would rather die than to go back. She is ready to sell her soul to the devil if that's the price that she has to pay. Her servants notice that she is in a bad mood, so they quickly greet her and retire to their quarters. She goes into her room and jumps into the shower. The cold shower is giving her the bare minimum of relief, but she is going to take it.
