"Huh? That's so derisive, boss," May frowned in disbelief.
She wondered how Amanda could have such a rare and golden privilege but yet, throw it in the dustbin.
Through her foolish decision, she would be missing a lot of privileges she was supposed to enjoy as the General's wife.
The kind of gifts the other generals and important members of The Sovereign Armada Military Force planned to present to Amanda were worth more than $100,000,000!
Apart from this, they planned to present her with a brand new Bugatti Chiron Sports Car which was worth more than $3,000,000!
May wondered how undiscerning Amanda was to discard such a juicy opportunity.
"Well... I hope she has a change of mind," Adrian replied.
"I'm truly sorry to hear about the divorce, General. If there's anything I can do to support you during this difficult time, please don't hesitate to let me know," May replied, showing some concern.
Later that day, Adrian and Amanda made their way to Jolley City's Court to sign the divorce papers.
"Adrian, you know what? A loser is always a loser. Do you remember how we got to the City Court to get our marriage certificate on your poor bike a year ago? You see? Nothing changed much since then. You remain a loser.
You can't even buy me a diamond ring or a luxurious car. That's why I am leaving you once and forever! You should be ashamed of yourself." Amanda mocked in a calm and pitiful tone while they waited for the bus.
Adrian remained silent while Amanda looked at him with a mixture of disdain and mockery.
Soon, they got on the bus, not uttering a single word to each other all through the trip.
Upon arriving at the court fifteen minutes later, Adrian and Amanda went straightforwardly to the Divorcing Department in the City Court.
Before the staff handed over a document for them to sign, Adrian decided to give Amanda a last chance, "Aren't you going to reconsider your decision? I love you, Amanda.
Remember all the ups and downs we had gone through together? Don't do this, Amanda, I'll make you the happiest woman if you reconsider your decision."
Adrian hoped Amanda would change her mind.
She was his first love.
However, Amanda didn't even spare him a side glance. Instead, she answered coldly, "No need."
And without hesitation or delay, she picked up the pen and signed the papers rapidly.
Adrian could sense how eager Amanda was to divorce him.
She didn't even bother going through the terms and details.
Adrians lips curved into a bitter smile.
Soon, he signed the divorce agreement as well without a second word.
None of them had to sign the property division agreements because there was nothing valuable under their name.
And soon after their papers were notarized, the staff told them to leave.
The whole process didn't even take half an hour, which was unbelievably fast, compared with a week needed when they got married a year ago.
Just as they walked out of the building, Amanda's phone rang.
She fetched the phone from a new Tod's bag. It was a brand new phone, which cost $5,000.
Upon seeing who the caller was, Amanda answered it right away.
"Sweetheart, are you out there already? I'm done here. I'll meet you in a minute."
Her voice was ever sweet and gentle.
That was the sweetness and gentleness Adrian had been familiar with a few months ago.
However, from now on, Amanda's sweetness and gentleness were specially targeted at the caller.
Adrian stood calm and composed. He understood clearly that he and Amanda had finally divorced.
He wouldn't bother her anymore, but still, he didn't want to appear impolite. He wanted to say goodbye to her.
Waiting by the roadside for a vehicle, Adrian walked up to Amanda after she finished her call, "Amanda, I hope you find happiness..."
"What the hell are you lingering here for, loser?"
However, upon hearing Adrian's farewell, Amanda rolled her eyes in disdain.
"It's over between you and me, you get it? I've suffered enough poverty last year, I don't want to get infected with the poorness you carry.
Don't ever let me see you again, alright? I'm more than happy to get rid of you and your poverty. And I'd appreciate it if you could leave me alone."
Adrian couldn't believe his ears. He had loved Amanda wholeheartedly in the past year, and all she thought was getting rid of him and his poverty.
At this moment, the last bit of love Adrian had for Amanda vanished into thin air.
To him, there was no going back!
VROOM!
Just then, a white Lamborghini car pulled up in front of Amanda.
A man stepped out from the driver's side.
The man was very short compared with Adrian, and he had a protruding belly that resembled a six-month pregnant woman.
To Adrian's surprise, he recognized the man at first sight.
Wasn't he Wilson Brett? The son of the General Manager of Hennessey Group where he worked?
Wilson Brett was only 28, but he looked much older than his age.
One would think he was more than 40, given his appearance and build.
But because he had a rich father, he lived a rather luxurious life and dated different women every month.
As Amanda approached him, he smiled, revealing his crooked teeth.
"Sweetheart, I've finally ended marriage to this trash! Now, I'm fully yours," Amanda said to Wilson passionately.
Wilson gave Amanda a congratulations peck on the cheek and then turned to Adrian.
"Mr Adrian, thank you so much for letting Amanda go. I know she had suffered a lot in the past few months, and now she is finally free.
Don't you worry, I will be taking good care of her. She won't be suffering like she did when she was with you. I promise I won't be a loser like you."
With that said, Wilson couldn't help but burst into laughter filled with mockery of Adrian.
