"What on earth is happening here?" Todd's voice boomed across the room with his anger evident in the intensity of his gaze that seemed to set the air on fire.

Everyone fell silent with their gazes fixed on Adrian as if pointing him out as the cause of the chaos.

However, Todd had observed from the moment he entered how Adrian's colleagues were humiliating him, so he knew Adrian wasn't the instigator of the chaos. Nevertheless, he chose to address Adrian directly.

Giving Adrian a disdainful look, Todd uttered sharply, "Adrian Moore!"

"You have brought your incompetence and personal failure to this workplace, huh? I wonder what good you have in this world, anyway! After failing in your marriage, you also want to infect Hennessey Group with your failure!"

Adrian furrowed his brows with a knowing sneer. It was obvious that Todd was intentionally getting at him. However, he wasn't perturbed or even surprised anyway.

After all, Wilson, Todd's son, was his ex-wife's lover. So why wouldn't Todd talk like a fool and take sides with his ugly and promiscuous son?

"Are you dumb or deaf? Look at your stupid self, you don’t even dare to speak up! No wonder your wife dumped you for my son, I can’t blame her.

Compared to my son, you are nothing but an incompetent rag who idles from morning to night! My company does not need people like you. If you still have any dignity, you had better resign!" Todd said with a mocking and disdain-filled tone.

“Your company? Since when did you purchase Hennessey Group? Aren’t you merely a manager? No wonder they say like father, like son. You are not only as ugly as your son, but also as stupid and shameless as him.”

“You bastard! How dare you!”

Adrian’s words made Todd’s face turn red in an instant. He hadn’t expected that Adrian could dare to talk to him like that.

“Forget about your entire salary for this month!”

“That's interesting,” Adrian sneered, he was not in any way moved by Todd's declaration.

After all, he was the owner of Hennessey Group. Not only could he decide if Todd would be paid that month, but he could also terminate his appointment on the spot! However, he didn't feel the need to reveal his authority at that moment.

Before leaving, he would ensure that the arrogant fool lost his job.

Adrian’s fearless attitude made Todd even more furious.

"You wait, I will have you kicked out as soon as the task entrusted to you is completed!"

“We can’t wait to see that, Sir. He has been so incompetent that we had to help him out every now and then. Your son, Mr Wilson, is a hundred per cent better than this disabled,” one of Adrian’s colleagues, a bald middle-aged man said, looking at Adrian with disgust before fawning over Todd.

Adrian couldn’t help but chuckle mockingly.

If he remembered correctly, the truth contradicted what the bald man said. The fact was that Adrian was the one who always gave a helping hand to them.

“Yeah, right. Compared to Mr Wilson, he is rubbish.”

“He has slowed us down all this time. Not to mention that his existence alone has polluted the air in our office.”

A few others added.

They knew Todd loved hearing them mock Adrian, especially after work hours.

The rest of Adrian's colleagues nodded in agreement, sharing chuckles and exchanging glances.

They found Adrian's lack of remorse and nonchalant attitude irritating.

How dare he remain calm despite his misfortune!

How dare he refuse to plead or express any regret!

Surely, his wife had made a wise decision to divorce such a fool!

However, just when they were waiting to see more of Adrian being humiliated, what they heard next came like a bombshell to all of them.

"And as for the rest of you, today's earnings will be deducted from your salaries ... hurry up with your work and stop babbling!"

"What?!"

All of Adrian's colleagues groaned in disappointment.

Todd believed that the rest of them deserved punishment for causing chaos.

What if a client had walked in during that time? It would have portrayed a negative image for the company. With that said, Todd turned to leave.

None of them dared talk back, but they dared throw Adrian ugly looks. If not for him, they wouldn't be denied their income.

With uncontrolled outbursts, they began to curse Adrian as soon as Todd disappeared in the distance.

"You're doomed!"

"As long as you remain in this company, I'll make your life miserable."

"Because of you, I would be deprived of today's income."

"You'll pay dearly for this."

"You bastard!"

Amidst the curses and insults, the bald middle-aged colleague approached Adrian aggressively. "Empty your pockets now, or you'll wish you were never born!"

Meanwhile, Todd ascended the stairs to his office with a satisfied smile on his face. He had achieved what he wanted.

Although he could have imposed a less severe penalty on the other employees, he had ensured that it was something that had to do with their income.

He intended to make them hate Adrian even more!

“If you have the gut, go talk to Todd directly.”

Adrian gave the colleague who confronted him a cold stare, as though regarding him as a fool. And then he gathered his things in a box and picked up his resignation letter, proceeding to Todd's office.

"You bastard, are you fucking deaf? I said empty your pocket!"

And with great force, the bald middle-aged colleague tried to throw himself on Adrian.
