The Betrayal

Victor stood alone in his office, the weight of betrayal pressing down on him. He replayed the events of the past few days in his mind, struggling to make sense of it all. How had he missed this? Someone he trusted with his life, someone he’d fought for and defended, had been working with Maria all along. And now, it was all coming to a head.

Emma walked in, her eyes filled with a mixture of worry and determination. She reached out, but he pulled back slightly, his face hard and unreadable. She didn’t take it personally; she knew he was hurt. But she couldn’t let him face this alone.
