Chapter 4 “Saving Someone”

“You mentioned I haven’t seen millions or billions. I hate to break it to you, but you’re mistaken. I’ve got money that’s three times, no, maybe even TEN TIMES what you have.”

Arthur was not lying. The money and treasures he stashed away were the fruits of his relentless labor as the hero of their nation. He intended to save it and use it to aid his people once the war was over.

This was wealth substantial enough to save an entire island. So, Mr. Chain’s money and buildings couldn’t even begin to compare to what Arthur possessed. But…

“Pfft…”

Lea and Mr. Chain scoffed at Arthur.

“Arthur, are you seriously hearing yourself? You think a delivery boy like you has more money than Mr. Chain? Have you lost your mind? Maybe that bump on your head scrambled your brain,” Lea mocked her husband.

“Your husband is not just a pathetic loser; he’s completely out of touch with reality,” Mr. Chain spat out. He turned to Arthur and declared, “Listen up, Mr. Dwight. I’m the wealthiest man in this City. Don’t push your luck with your ridiculous lies. This is your final warning.”

Chain pulled out his phone and barked orders to his men.

“Get that pizza delivery man out of my hotel. Now!”

Lea didn’t flinch as her husband was dragged away by security. She had no love or respect for him anyway. But Arthur’s outrageous claim gnawed at her.

‘He can’t possibly have that kind of money, can he?’ she thought. Lea resolved to dig into her husband’s financial situation later.

Meanwhile, Arthur was unceremoniously tossed out of the hotel like trash.

“Mr. Chain has made it clear: if you ever set foot in this hotel again, we’ll call the cops!” the guards warned.

Arthur, sitting on the ground, shot a furious glare at the guards. Once they finally left, he got to his feet and brushed off his delivery uniform.

“Unbelievable. He actually expects me to deliver this pizza on purpose.” Arthur's eyes burned into the hotel building owned by Mr. Chain. “The moment I get my payment, I’m going to take that man down. I will seize his territory.”

The Former General might not know the first thing about business; he’s spent his life on the battlefield. But if making money in this cutthroat world is a war, he’ll come up with a brilliant strategy to crush his foes.

Yet, he realized that going solo isn’t the way to go. He needs an ally. But where the hell can he find one? All his comrades are gone.

‘And I still can’t shake off the feeling of betrayal from the last one,’ Arthur thought bitterly.

“Can you move out of the way?” a sharp voice jolted him back to reality.

Arthur turned around and spotted a woman flanked by ten bodyguards. She had short black hair, round eyes, and pale skin.

Sure, Lea is attractive, but this woman had distinct features and an air of elegance that set her apart.

“Miss Sharmaine needs to get inside, and you’re in the way!” barked the massive guard.

Arthur didn’t feel like getting into a fight. He stepped aside to let them through. As he started to head back to his motorbike, a white van caught his eye.

In what felt like slow motion, his keen gaze picked up on the figures inside the van. They were men with strange-looking items.

‘Guns!’ he thought, realization hitting him hard.

He quickly glanced back, only to see the white van come to a stop right in front of the woman who was supposed to enter the hotel.

Men in black stormed out, their faces hidden beneath covers. In an instant, they pounced on the bodyguards, overpowering them and seizing the woman.

“Who the hell are you?! Let me go!” she screamed in desperation.

But it was useless. Her guards were beaten down and completely outmatched.

The kidnappers successfully shoved her into the van and took off. As the van sped away, Arthur caught a glimpse of the license plate.

Without wasting a second, he jumped on his motorbike and revved the engine.

Vroom! Vroom!

With a deafening roar, Arthur took off in pursuit of the white van.
