Sharmaine Chain is the youngest daughter of billionaire Mr. Samuel Chain. With her privileged background, she always had a team of loyal bodyguards by her side. But today, despite having ten guards with her, she found herself helpless against a kidnapping.
Gagged and unable to speak, Sharmaine stared at her captors.
One of them was on the phone, talking to someone.
“Yes, we’ve got her. Don’t worry. I’ll make sure this goes off without a hitch,” the leader of the kidnappers said.
Sharmaine realized someone was pulling the strings.
Who would dare to kidnap someone as influential as her?
‘It has to be that woman!’ she thought.
She recalled warning her brother’s girlfriend to break up with him. The woman had exploded in anger, even threatening Sharmaine about what would happen once she took over as Chairwoman.
‘Just wait! If I get out of here, I will make you regret this!’ Sharmaine vowed.
The tricky part is, she’s not even sure if she can escape. Will her family come to her rescue?
“Sir! There’s someone on a motorbike tailing us!” came the urgent report.
Sharmaine’s heart raced with hope. Could it be a rescue team coming to get her?
The leader ended the call and glanced in the side mirror. Sure enough, a motorbike was right on their tail.
“Step on it!” he shouted at the driver.
The driver hit the gas, weaving through traffic and speeding past other cars.
Honk! Honk!
The blaring horns filled the air. They all turned to the side mirror and saw the motorbike still hot on their heels.
“Seriously?! Can’t you lose of a single motorbike?!” the leader grumbled.
In response to his frustration, the driver swerved the van to the left and accidentally collided with another car.
Crash!
They didn’t even slow down, barreling through the busy street like they were on a wild ride.
“Watch out!” Pedestrians in the crosswalk scrambled back to the curb, trying to avoid the chaos.
“Ow!” Sharmaine winced as the van jolted, throwing her sideways. Sitting up, she glanced back to see who was trying to help her.
To her shock, the rider of the motorbike that had just caught up to them was none other than the pizza delivery guy.
[“He’s the delivery man before!”] Sharmaine shouted. But only moans were heard from her covered mouth.
"What the heck?! A pizza guy? Who ordered a pizza?" The kidnappers couldn't help but chuckle.
One of them grabbed a gun and aimed it at the delivery guy, but the leader quickly intervened.
“Are you crazy?! We agreed to keep this low-key! We can’t start shooting in the middle of the street!”
While they were busy bickering, the delivery man tossed something onto the car's windshield.
“Crap!” the driver yelled as his view was completely blocked by a cheesy pizza.
He hit the wipers, but that just smeared the mozzarella all over the glass!
“Boss! I can’t see a thing!” the driver shouted, swerving the wheel and colliding with other cars.
Sharmaine felt dizzy. She really didn’t want to die in a chaotic car crash!
‘Is this it? Am I really going to die here?’ she wondered.
Without warning, the van's door swung open. Sharmaine turned her head to the left and spotted a hand reaching out toward her.
“Grab on!” the delivery man yelled, urgency lacing his voice.
The leader of the kidnappers, fed up with the situation, raised his weapon. He was indifferent to the arrival of the police; what mattered was that the hostage was not going to be rescued so easily.
“Get lost! You lunatic pizza guy!” he bellowed, aiming the gun directly at him.
But just as he was about to pull the trigger, the delivery man ducked low.
Bang!
After avoiding the gunshot, he yanked Sharmaine closer and the motorcycle that he was riding, skid dangerously beneath the van's tires.
“Ahh!” Sharmaine cried out as she and her rescuer tumbled to the ground, bracing for the impact.
The jolt was harsh, yet amidst the pain, Sharmaine felt a sense of security as the man enveloped her in his arms, shielding her head from the fall.
Bam!
Sharmaine felt her head spinning. As she tried to catch her breath, her eyes darted to the source of the loud crash.
In the distance, she spotted a white van engulfed in flames after slamming into a streetlight.
She realized she was still alive, and the kidnappers might be either dead or seriously hurt.
All of this was thanks to one man.
“Are you okay?”
Sharmaine turned to see who was speaking.
The guy removed his green helmet. His head looked fine, but his body was a mess of cuts and blood. And he was asking her if she was okay?
“You need to get to a hospital!” Sharmaine exclaimed, glancing around the street. “No! We have to get out of here! A car could come barreling toward us!”
The man groaned in pain and reassured her, “No need to stress. The road’s clear.”
“What do you mean?”
Struggling to sit up despite his injuries, he explained, “I called the police and told them to clear the road while I went after the van. It could be a danger to others.”
Sharmaine looked around, feeling confused. He was right; the road was indeed clear.
“And the police are on their way,” he added.
Just then, she heard the sound of sirens approaching.
The blue and red lights drew closer, bringing her a wave of relief.
She felt safe.
On the brink of tears, Sharmaine turned to the man who had risked himself to save her.
“Who… are you?” she asked, eager to know the name of her hero.
With a smile, he replied, “I’m General Arthur Troce.” Then, he collapsed onto the road, losing consciousness.
Lea walked anxiously around her fancy apartment, glancing at the clock. It was late, and her husband still hadn’t come home.“Could he really be thinking about divorcing me?” she wondered. “No way! I only brought it up to freak him out. He used to be so in love with me. How did everything shift so quickly? What gives him the idea that he can just move on without me?”That’s when Lea recalled what her husband had said to her boyfriend.[“You mentioned I haven’t seen millions or billions. I hate to break it to you, but you’re mistaken. I’ve got money that’s three times, no, maybe even TEN TIMES what you have.”]Was that the reason? Was Arthur keeping money or a hidden identity from her?“Ha! No way! That guy is the biggest loser I know! He’s such a joke!” Lea exclaimed.Feeling restless, she picked up her phone and called her brother.“Andrew! You checked my husband’s bank account, right?” she asked.“Yeah, I did. And let me tell you, it’s a shocker. He’s got a ton of cash in there,” he
In a lavish mansion, the Shawn family came together for lunch.“Mom, what are you planning to do with the property Mr. Chain gave you?” Adyta Shawn asked her mother, Margaret Shawn.“I’m considering building a vacation home,” the elderly woman replied.“That's awesome! Mr. Chain is really something, isn’t he?” Mark Shawn chimed in.Margaret set her utensils down and said, “Yes, unlike some husbands who only bring me shame and disappointment.”Everyone turned to Lea, who had been quiet the entire meal.“Lea,” Margaret called out.“Yes, Grandma?”“Didn’t I ask you to bring your husband? Where is he?”Lea couldn’t find the words. It had been a week since she last saw her husband. ‘Is he really serious about divorcing me?’ she thought. She realized she had to keep the divorce talk away from her family. If she wanted to avoid being kicked out, she had to act like her husband was still under her control.“You know how Arthur is. Always busy,” Lea said, trying to deflect.“Busy delivering pi
Lea was losing it. “You can’t find him?! What kind of nonsense is that?” she yelled into the phone. “How hard can it be to track down a nobody like Arthur?!”“I’m really sorry, Ma’am. I checked his workplace, and even the pizza shop boss has no clue where your husband is. It’s like he just vanished,” the voice on the other end replied.“I didn’t hire you for this! You better search for him anywhere, even if it’s the ends of the earth!”Lea hung up and let out a frustrated sigh.It had been two months since her husband had disappeared, and honestly, she wasn’t even sure if she cared about his safety anymore.“But seriously, he should’ve at least given me what I needed before he went missing. Ugh!” she groaned as she plopped down on the couch.Lea had no choice but to marry him because of the mansion the Shawn family was living in. The place actually belonged to Arthur Dwight, but after tying the knot with Lea, his in-laws moved in and acted like it was theirs!Arthur adored Lea and let
When Arthur Dwight walked slowly into the party, it seemed as if conversation stopped to sit in stunned silence. He had everyone’s attention. He moved with the stealth of a jaguar, yet the atmosphere was thick with tension, as if everyone was holding their breath, and you could almost sense someone would betray their partner just to get his attention.“No way, that can’t be Arthur!” Andrew protested, shaking his head in disbelief.“If that’s not him, then who the heck is that?” Mark chimed in.Lea, Arthur’s wife, was thinking the same thing. She was used to seeing him in worn-out shirts or his delivery uniform, but today he looked like a completely different person.“Arthur’s a total weakling! That guy is built like a tank!” Andrew continued. “And you really think he could afford a suit? Come on, he must be some dude who just looks like that loser!”But Lea knew very well that Andrew was wrong. The scrawny guy transformed into a muscular giant. Towering at two meters, his suit was str
In the chaotic war between Hermit and Gavor back in 1980, General Arthur Troce and his loyal troops managed to stash away all the gold and treasures in a hidden basement.“We're heading back to the military base!” the General ordered.Colonel Lake, his trusted ally, hesitated, “General, are you sure about this?”“Sure about what?” Arthur shot back, locking eyes with his friend.“You’ve spent years serving this country. This treasure represents your courage. Once the war wraps up, you could retire and live a peaceful life with this fortune.”“Are you really suggesting I should enjoy a comfortable life while our fellow citizens suffer through the war?”The Colonel fell silent, acutely aware of the General's deep-seated love for their homeland.“Our people have endured unimaginable hardships under Gavor’s rule. After this war, they’ll need support from the government. But let’s be real—the current administration is completely useless. Do you honestly believe they will come to the aid of
Jules Chain sent over some trucks and a bulldozer to Arthur’s mansion.“Sir, just a heads up, you might feel some shaking and hear a lot of noise while we’re drilling,” one of the workers informed Arthur. With his arms crossed and a confident stance, Arthur replied, “That’s nothing. I’ve slept in a tent while bombs were dropping around me.”The worker tilted his head, thinking Arthur was joking. “Haha! That’s a good one, Sir. But what exactly are you hoping to find? Why dig up such a nice lawn?”Instead of answering, Arthur simply looked at him and said, “You’ve got one job. When you hit something solid, stop digging and let me know.”“Got it, Sir.”With that, the crew got to work. They spent nearly the entire day digging before one of the workers rushed over to Arthur with some exciting news.“Sir! We discovered a solid concrete surface beneath the dirt!"Arthur realized he was just a step away from striking it rich. The sun had set, and all the workers had gone home. Climbing down
Warning: some parts have violent and disturbing scene. Please read at your own risk.** **“I am s-sorry, Sir. But Arthur, that guy, he was too strong for us. And…”Bang! One of Harry's guys, Ubert, couldn't finish what he was saying when Harry hurled the cigarette ashtray at the wall. It shattered, sending shards flying toward Arthur, and one of them nicked his cheek. Blood trickled down, but he didn't dare say a word about it.The main reason? Harry was in a terrible mood."I think I might have a hearing issue right now," Harry said with a sarcastic laugh. "I was hoping for some good news, like that useless Arthur got his butt kicked and signed the document. That's what I wanted to hear, Ubert. So, why don't you start your report over?"Shaking with fear, Ubert took a deep breath. He had been working for Harry for years and knew just how dangerous he could be."S-Sir Harry. We did everything we could to catch Mr. Arthur. But he ended up beating us, and we had no choice but to run aw
As Arthur and Sharmaine stood by the elevator, he glanced back at the twenty guards trailing behind them.He recalled a conversation he had with the Chairman two months prior: “You really need to look into your granddaughter’s bodyguards and consider hiring new ones. It’s strange that they’re armed but didn’t use their weapons when your grandchild was taken.”The fact that Sharmaine’s guards had changed and doubled in number showed that the Chairman took Arthur’s advice seriously.Ding! The elevator doors swung open with a loud noise. After Sharmaine and Arthur stepped in, the bodyguards were supposed to follow. But Sharmaine halted them.“Stay back,” she commanded. The lead bodyguard voiced his concern. “But Ma’am, it’s our duty to keep you safe.” He shot a doubtful glance at Arthur and the black bag he was holding.Sharmaine responded, “No need to do it with this man. Just follow my order, okay?”The guards couldn’t say no to the lady, so they hung back until the door shut.Sharmain
