"I'm sure that whatever I acquire from him will go a long way in helping my parents.” Valerie concluded and saw the shocking look on her friends' faces.

"What is it, girls? Tell me, Is it an impossible mission? I just believe that since he was not poor after all, It's only proper and wise to get what had always belonged to me.”

“I can't let him go away with everything, that's why I have to fight for what's mine.”

"Are you sure about that?” Anaya inquired and Valerie nodded with pursed lips.

"I'm very sure about it. Now tell me, what do you suggest?” Valerie casted a glance at Silver and waited for her suggestion.

She nodded in agreement and added. “Val, you're absolutely right. Maxwell shouldn't keep everything to himself when you were once married.”

"You're supposed to get your own share of his properties.”

"Exactly.” Anaya agreed with her friend. "I think you should take him to court.”

At the end, Anaya and Silver agreed for Valerie to go to court, even when they already knew what the outcome would be.

They believed that Valerie would be fighting a lost battle. And if she was going to do it behind her husband's back, it might jeopardize their relationship.

Well, they have nothing much to do but to be at the sidelines and watch as things unfold.

They could not wait to see the disappointed look on Valerie's face when she loses the case.

Anaya and Silver exchanged glances and gave each other a knowing smile.

Turning to face Valerie, they gave her a reassuring smile.

“So Val, you know that you'd be needing a good lawyer who can fight this case for you. And getting a good lawyer cost money." Anaya suggested but Valerie waved it away.

“Money is not the problem. Have you forgotten my husband's identity? I can get the money from him." 

“All that matters now is for me to win the case and get what belongs to me." 

“Yeah, that's true. And does your husband know about your plans?" Silver inquired and she shook her head with a positive look on her face.

“Maurice doesn't need to know about this. Unless you girls plan on telling him." 

“We'd never do that to you, Val." They chorused.

While the girls were still conversing at their corner, Maxwell was having a misunderstanding with a waiter.

It was the same waiter from the last time when Angel brought him to the restaurant to eat. That was the day he was released from prison.

Maxwell had decided to go back to the restaurant to have his lunch. 

Although he was insulted by the waiter the last time, he enjoyed their food which was the reason he went back there.

Maxwell also wanted to find out if he'd still be disrespected again by the waiter.

And just like he expected, the waiter refused to let him in even when his dressing was much better than the last time.

“You again." The waiter pointed at Maxwell. He was blocking his path, stopping him from going inside.

“What are you doing here again?" 

The waiter glanced around and didn't see Angel with him.

Turning to Maxwell, he continued to talk down on him.

“We have no free food to give out this time. And I can see that no one will be paying your meal for you so you have to leave." 

The waiter remembered the last time that it was Angel who paid for Maxwell's food. Since she was not around, Maxwell won't be able to pay for the food.

The place was a very fancy and classic restaurant which makes the best meals. However, their food are very expensive.

“Is that some way to treat your customer." Maxwell spoke calmly with a smile on his face.

He just acted like he was not bothered about the demeaning words that were being thrown at him.

“We don't entertain people like you here. You can just leave already and go get some street food to full your belly, that's if you have money." The waiter replied back at him with a condensending look on his face.

When he finished talking to Maxwell, he called out to the security man working at the place.

“Tell me, how did this man get past you?" 

The guard stared at Maxwell for a while before commenting. "I don't understand what you're saying. He's a customer so why should I stop him from coming to eat.”

"If I scrutinize every customer coming here to eat just like you're doing to this man, then all our customers will run away.”

"You're so dumb and foolish.” The waiter cursed at the guard before sending him away.

"Get out of my sight, you're just so useless.”

The guard scoffed at the waiter before turning to leave. However, he stopped halfway and came back.

He gave Maxwell another serious look before commenting. “I think he's the one who came with that car over there.”

The security guard pointed at a White Range Rover sport car that was parked at the garage.

The waiter's jaws dropped and his eyes almost fell off its socket when he saw the car.

“That's impossible." 

He turned to scrutinize Maxwell who had folded his arms and with raised brows. Maxwell also stared intently at the waiter.

To further break the waiter's heart, he raised his car keys up with his right hand and shook it a few times.

Maxwell's lips suddenly curled into a sneer as he went closer and shook the keys before the waiter's face.

“Do you still want more proof to be convinced that I'm not a begger who came here to beg for food.”

Speechless, the waiter swallowed hard and this time, he scrutinized Maxwell properly and saw that his shirt and trousers were of quality materials.

It's just that they looked simple and cheap.

Without another word, Maxwell pushed the waiter aside and walked into the restaurant.

The waiter followed behind while the security went back to his duty post.

When Maxwell got into the restaurant, he scanned the place and his eyes fell on Anaya. She was the only one facing the doorway.

As soon as their eyes met, Anaya looked away and gradually whispered to Valerie and Silver.

“Look behind you. It's Maxwell." 

The two girls turned their faces at the same time and exchanged glances with Maxwell who nodded at them and began to walk away.

"Talk of the devil.” Valerie muttered with her teeth gritted.
