The manager was already afraid when he heard that his job would also be on the line.

He had no idea who Maxwell was and what he was capable of doing.

If he could give away a sum of twenty thousand dollars just to get a waiter fired, then he could pay more to have him dismissed.

He could find the owner of the restaurant and make him terminate his job.

The man was not ready to lose his job because of a mere waiter.

“Hmph. That's more like it." Maxwell chuckled with a smug smile on his face.

He went closer to the man and leaned on the table.

Fixing his eyes on Mr. Parker, Maxwell muttered to his face. “I want him sacked. It's the guy who was standing outside with me earlier." 

"I'll do that, right away. Please, wait for me here.”

"Of course.” Maxwell nodded as Mr. Parker left the office and went to call on the waiter who followed behind him.

Because he knew what was going to happen to him, he kept a pleading expression.

When they got to the office, Mr. Parker said to the waiter.

“I'm sorry Louis, I'll have to terminate your job here. This man brought a complaint to me and from what I heard, you disrespected him which is against our ethics here.”

"He's a customer and all our customers should be treated very well. Have I not been repeating the same words over and over again.”

By the time Mr. Parker was speaking to Louis, the waiter, he'd already put away the money Maxwell gave to him.

"I'm sorry, Sir. I promise that it will never happen again. Please don't fire me because I need this job.” Louis fell on his knees and began to plead with his manager.

“You can punish me but please, don't sack me.”

Louis knew that getting a waiting job that pays very well would be difficult.

Tasty Twist diner was one of the best restaurants around there and their food was good and expensive as well.

Even though the prices were on the high side, they still had a lot of customers.

So because of their high standards in everything, getting a job at the place was very difficult.

Louis knew how hard it was before he was able to land that waiting job.

“If you want your job back, then he's the one you should be apologizing to, not me." Mr. Parker pointed at Maxwell who stood there and acted like whatever was going on at the place was not his business.

“I'm sure that this will serve as a lesson to you and the others. Our customers are always very important so they should be treated with so much respect.” Mr. Parker added and went to settle on his seat.

At that moment, Louis turned to Maxwell and continued apologizing. "Sir, forgive me. I promise you that this will never happen again.”

Maxwell chuckled dryly while staring down at him.

"You insulted me the last time I came here with a young lady. So because my meal was paid for by the lady, you concluded that I won't be able to afford the meals here.”

"You looked down on me because I dressed poorly last time. For that reason, you thought that I'm a beggar who lives off people.”

While the waiter was still pleading on the ground, Maxwell lowered himself in a squat and stared into Louis's pleading face before muttering.

“What did I tell you earlier? I told you that I'll make sure sometime like this never happens again. So by relieving you of this job, you won't get the chance to insult someone again especially because of their appearance.”

"This will indeed serve as a lesson to you. You have to always look beyond physical appearance. You know, appearances can be deceptive sometimes.”

Maxwell reached out and patted him on the shoulder before standing up.

He turned to the manager and nodded at him. “It was nice doing business with you, Mr. Parker." 

With that, Maxwell left the office.

Before Louis left, he casted a questioning gaze at the manager who acted like he didn't know what Maxwell was talking about.

Without wasting his time at the office, Louis ran after Maxwell but had to maintain his composure at the restaurant hall.

However, when they got to the parking lot, he continued to plead with Maxwell until the latter was about to open the door of his car.

“Please, give me another chance, Sir. Talk to my boss to give me my job back.” Louis pleaded but Maxwell ignored him.

When he got into his car, he rolled down his glass window, casted one last glance at the waiter before muttering coldly.

"Go and deal with your shit. I'm sure that this lesson you just learnt will help you in the future.”

"You must learn how to relate well with people, no matter their status.”

With that, Maxwell began to drive out of the place. However, he had to hit the brakes when he saw someone standing before his car.

If he wasn't fast enough to hit the brakes, he would have hit Valerie who was the one blocking his way.

Swiftly, Maxwell pulled over, alighted from his car and went to confront Valerie.

Valerie turned to her friends who were standing by the side. “Go on girls, we'll talk later." 

“No, it's fine. We'll wait for you. I'd like for us to leave together." Anaya quickly declined her suggestion.

Valerie was planning on jilting them in order to confront Maxwell. However, they were not willing to miss out on such a scene.

They could not pass on the gossip of whatever would be transpiring between the ex couple.

They wanted to get the gist first hand and did not want to hear it from anyone's lips.

Valerie ignored her friends and focused her attention on Maxwell who was angrily approaching her.

When he caught up with her, Maxwell could not help but raise his voice at her.

“Hey, have you got a death wish? What are you doing blocking the path of my car." 

“Do you want to be hit?" 

With raised brows, Valerie closed in on him and stood before his face so that they could stare into each other's eyes.

With a very confident tone, she replied to him.

“Yes, Maxwell Hunt. I have a death wish and I want you to help me fulfill it.”

"I wouldn't mind if you ran me over.”
