Chapter 41

Richardson watched the man before him cough before drinking the water given to him by Tom.

“You’ll need to take in more liquid Sire,” suggested Tom. “You lost a lot of energy when you fought with your brother.”

“You sly devil,” laughed the man, hacking another cough. “I don’t need more water, I need rest.”

With that, he waved Tom away, glancing at Richardson through narrowed eyes.

“Right now I can tell from your stance that you’re in need of answers,” sighed the man. “What do you want to know?”

“I only hope you’re okay,” Richardson mumbled, wondering if the frail old man before him could still work into the next day. He looked weak and frail. He was like a big baby.

“I can take a beating and stand on my two feet, boy,” laughed the man. “I once held two men away from me while fighting a boxer with my other hand. I was a beast in my day.“

Richardson had heard so many old men exaggerate about their past dealings but he could believe what his grandfather was saying.
