Chapter 3

The next day, when everything was in the pink. My head felt so heavy while my body was aching. I smelled something burning and a lot of dusk, it made me choke several times. I saw Myrdin sleep while sitting in the middle of the living room. I growled while stood up and walked into the kitchen.

“Myrdin, are you going with me?” I spoke while gulping a glass of water.

Myrdin opened his eyes and looked at me with his messy face. “Where are you going?” He asked, looking straight at my soul.

I felt so distracted by his gaze, so I turned my face and washed my glass. “To the city.”

“Okay, I am coming!” Without thinking twice, he stood up and followed me like a chick.

I was preparing myself, took a furry jacket, dirty clothes for the carriage, and rope, before going back to the forest. I gave Myrdin another jacket to keep his pale skin from the views of people in the city. He didn’t give any comments and followed me quietly. We were going back to my carriage and took it from the mud which was already dry.

“Help me!” Shouted me while looking at Myrdin.

“Move!” He said with a firm voice, put his two hands in the carriage, and pulled it up.

I was shocked that he could pull the carriage by himself. So, why was he acting like he was weak last night? I thought he could kill all the wolves with his bare hands if he was that strong. Such a weird man. He walked away with my carriage in his hands, I ran to try to catch him.

“I need to take my horse!”

“Okay!” Suddenly, he put the carriage right in front of my house.

I took my horse and tied the carriage tightly before I jumped on my horseback. Myrdin took his place beside the woods and we went to the city together. All along the way, we didn’t talk to each other because I am not interested in his ‘imaginary’ world things. I rolled my eyes when I thought about it.

After 30 miles away from my house, finally we arrived. I jumped down and walked to Myrdin, “Don’t do anything. Stay here!” Whispered me with pointing.

He nodded politely and saw me walk away from him. As usual, I met my boss and gave all the wood he needed. “Who is he? A new partner, ha?” He noticed Myrdin who stood still in his position as I told him.

“No! Just someone passed by and wanted to go to this city. I just give a ride,” explained me while thinking about a reasonable reason.

“Ah.. okay! Here is your fee,” he gave me several sheets of money.

“Thank you.” I moved fast and asked Myrdin to sit back to the carriage.

“Take me to the city!” He ordered.

I obeyed and nodded while driving to the city. This is not the first time I walked around here so I already knew the route. We already arrived at the middle of the city, where the water fountain was placed. I took a look for a while, “Here -”

Suddenly, he jumped down from the carriage and ran through something. “Myrdin!” I shouted while looking around and had absolutely no intention of pursuing him.

But, he didn’t know this city and I didn’t want anyone noticing his pointing ears and pale skin. I groaned before parking my carriage along the side of the road. I jumped and ran after Myrdin who went inside the city’s library. Inside the library, I glanced around the library which is so big and high. “What the -” I am so impressed.

I tried to find Myrdin while walking around the first floor. Not even a second, I found Myrdin when downstairs and still running. “Myrdin!” Shouted and followed him.

We went downstairs and arrived in the basement which is dark. “Myrdin!” I called his name again, following his shadow went even deeper.

The basement looked so neat and didn't have any dusk in. There were a lot of old books on the shelves and I thought someone was living here, because there was an empty cup on the table aside. Deeper, deeper, and deeper until I passed a narrow alley which I didn’t know where this alley would end. I bumped someone really hard until I bounced back and fell on the ground.

“Ouch!” I grumbled. “Why are you stopping here?”

Myrdin stand still like a statue and did not answering my question.

“Myrdin,” I said and stood up while cleaning my clothes.

“We have arrived!”

When I heard those three words, I really didn’t know what he meant. I pushed him aside and tried to see what Myrdin meant by that. He was pushed aside so I could see clearly where we were. A big forest with a lot of sparkle and it looked so strange to me.

“Where are we?” I asked, panicking.

“My world.”
