Chapter 11; A Grown Man Hitting A Woman?

Alex flinched as he heard the familiar voice shouting. It was none other than his ex-girlfriend, Shenna! 

Alex's expression fell as he turned toward Shenna, who was walking elegantly toward him with her expensive Louis Vuitton dress; it seems that she had been waiting for Alex to appear.

"Alex, who said you could set there?" Shenna placed her hands on her hips as she scuffed at him.

"..." Alex lowered his head as he returned to his work, arranging documents. It was better for him to stay silent to avoid conflict.

Unfortunately, Shenna didn't think so, as out of the blue, she contemptuously snatched the documents off Alex's hands.

"Did you forget something?" Shenna, with a cold expression, icily stated. "Why aren't you apologizing to me?" 

What a crazy woman! Alex couldn't believe that he had fallen for such a petty woman. Not to mention he was ready to commit everything for her, including marrying her. That would have been insane and the worst decision of his life!

At this point, Alex had no choice but to bow his head and utter. "I'm sorry."

"Huh? Is that all? You think I'll accept just any kind of apology?" Shenna raised her red heels as she spoke. "If you lick my shoes, I might find it in my heart to forgive you! Otherwise, I'll ask my boyfriend, Bruce, to fire a poor man like you!"

Alex's expression turned ugly after hearing Bruce's name. That's not all; getting fired would be the last thing he wanted, and more likely he wouldn't be able to find a decent job as Shenna and that bastard Bruce would surely mess up his record!

Alex felt it was unbelievable that Shenna wanted him to lick her shoes in front of his co-workers. Who was watching them closely while gossiping? 

"Hey, isn't Miss Shenna going too far?" A co-worker commented on the side.

"Who cares? It's not like it's our problem, and hadn't he heard the rumors? It's Alex's fault in the first place." Another coworker remarked.

Alex could hear his co-workers jeering at him, and it would appear that Shenna had already spread bad rumors about him. No wonder everyone was giving him a cold and distant look.

D*mn it!

Alex gritted his teeth; he had had enough of playing with his ex-girlfriend, Shenna, little games.

"I've been thinking lately..." Alex stated while looking dead straight at his ex-girlfriend, Shenna, who was knitting her brows and glaringly at him.

"Isn't it you who should be fired?"

Alex spoke, then, without holding back, he showed to his co-workers that everything Shenna did these years in the company was helped by him. Word by word, Alex smoke, backing it with solid and undeniable evidence!

While Alex was explaining that to his co-workers, he made them dumbfounded, and the way their eyes were now looking at Shenna had completely changed.

Alex unconsciously gripped tightly the USB inside his pocket; ever since Bruce wanted to rid him of it, he had been brainstorming, and that's when he decided to open the private data and important files that contain projects of the company he had saved in the cloud in case the company screwed him.

To his surprise, the information was like Pandora's box; he found how shady and corrupt the company was, receiving bribes from their clients and committing tax evasion! If this information came to light, it wouldn't be surprising if this company would go bankrupt.

'There's no way, I'll let you guys ruin my life without consequence!' Alex thought in his mind. Was what they did to him at the restaurant entertaining? Without a shadow of a doubt, yes, as they've even posted it online just to make fun of him.

On top of that, what made him feel utterly disgusted was when he accidentally found Shenna's chat box with Bruce.

Find out that Bruce had promised to be her boyfriend if he was satisfied with this entertainment of hers. What happened at the hotel was a mere prank to them! Humiliating him and threatening him like trash...

"....whether you believe me or not is up to you guys; I'm simply telling the truth." Alex could finally tell everyone.

Upon listening to Alex's explanation, his co-workers began to think and judge Shenna based on their own views.

"So, that's how it went; I thought it was strange that Shenna had a higher rating when she had less experience than us..." A man adjusted his glasses as he commented.

Then, another company employee commented as she finished analyzing Alex's words.

"I always looked up to her because she's pretty and kind, but now I realize I'm wrong; she's only pretty on the outside but rotten on the inside."

At this time, Shenna, who was exposed, and the debauchery that she did, caused her face to become flushed as she glared at Alex; if looks could kill, Alex would have died a thousand times over!

"Lies! You liar!" Shenna screamed at Alex at the top of her lungs.

"You penniless prick!" Shenna wanted to slap Alex.

Unlucky for her, Alex wouldn't just stand there and be slapped, as he said. "If you do that, I'll call security."

"You dare!?" Shenna shouted. In truth, she was feeling helpless that she couldn't punish him after destroying her hard-earned reputation as an excellent lady in the office.

Just then, Bruce, with a rather gloomy face, showed up. Shenna's eyes let up as she felt like she had found her back up. A flash of viciousness appeared in her eyes as she blurted out while pointing at Alex's nose.

"Alex, how dare you slander me when the CEO is here? You don't even show respect to him!"

Meanwhile, Alex's co-workers' commotion spikes up as they start whispering among themselves.

"So is it true that it's today that the boss will hand the CEO position to Bruce?"

"Of course, the boss would want his son to have that position! Also, Bruce is more than capable of handling anything in the office!"

Although not everyone agreed with Bruce becoming CEO, most of the majority greatly favored him, while those in the know could only shake their heads in despair. Bruce not being the CEO was already hard enough, but his turning into the company's CEO, their new boss? Isn't that the same as pushing the final nail in the coffin? It would be a nightmare.

Shenna continues to belittle Alex and throw insulting remarks at him.

"You are nothing, Alex. You're just a poor nobody! You should feel honored I dated someone like you!" Shenna screamed as if she was afraid no one would hear her voice.

However, what Shenna didn't notice was Bruce's darkened expression, and seeing this woman being loud, the irritated Bruce didn't hold back and slapped Shenna in the face. 

"Ah!" 

Shenna let out a shriek while covering the left side of her cheeks, which had turned red.

The loud and crisp sound from the slap woke everyone up from their stupor. Alex's co-workers were speechless as they watched what just happened.

Why would Bruce suddenly do that to Shenna, who was his girlfriend?

And just when they thought that maybe Bruce had mistaken Shenna for someone else and it was merely a misunderstanding between lovers, unfortunately, that wasn't the case...

"W-Why?" Shenna was still in disbelief, so she asked him.

"Can't you understand? It's over between us!" Bruce told her without the slightest bit of remorse.

On the side, Alex was frowning.

At this point, Shenna's expression was pitiful, and her tears threatened to fall.

"D-Didn't you promise to be my boyfriend?" Shenna said the desperation was apparent on his face.

Alex was paying attention to their conversation, especially his ex-girlfriend, Shenna, and Alex couldn't help but let out a sigh. What Shenna was feeling now was the same as what he felt when Shenna had schemed and betrayed him at the hotel.

There was an old saying, to rely on themselves rather than others; after all, no one knows when that person one trusted will change, not for the better but for the worse.

At this moment, something happened. As Alex and his co-workers saw the large screen in the center of the office, there was an announcement from the company that their CEO had been changed. The sentence on the large screen was quite large; everyone could see it as clear as day!

"He's not the CEO...." Shenna uttered something in confusion.

Bruce's mind went blank for a second as he mumbled to himself. "I'm no longer the CEO of this company? H-How?"

It was then that something snapped in Bruce's head as he turned aggressive, and when he didn't know where to release his pent-up anger, he decided to release it on Shenna, who was at a loss.

Bruce was about to hit Shenna for a second time when Alex finally decided to intervene. Alex immediately grabbed Bruce's wrist.

"Stop that Bruce!" Alex spoke out; it didn't feel right for him to see Shenna getting hit. "A grown man like you hitting a woman? Aren't you ashamed?"

"You peasant touched me?!"
