Chapter 12; A Pretty Lady, Who Is She?

After seeing Alex, Bruce's eyes went red, and he wanted nothing more than to rip Alex apart! There was no need for reason. It was unnecessary; he hated Alex's face.

'It's this f*cking fellow's fault!' Bruce gritted his teeth while thinking at the back of his head. All the bad things that are happening to him must be Alex's doing; he did something behind the scenes!

"Alex, you horsecrap spitting b*stard!"

Unable to hold his temper, Bruce pounced on Alex; he had decided to punch him. 

However, wouldn't Alex just stand still and let himself be a punching bag? Of course not!

Alex instinctively caught Bruce's all-out punch.

Just then...

"Stop!" An authoritative and powerful voice could be heard resounding inside the office, startling everyone.

A beautiful woman wearing a glass and the classy outfit of a secretary suddenly appeared at the door; she immediately scolded Bruce.

"Although you no longer have the right to be the CEO of the company...." She scrutinized Bruce with her chilling gaze, just when Bruce was about to get into a brawl with Alex. "I've allowed you to be the manager of this company in consideration of your father, but it seems to me that decision is a mistake; you don't look like a manager to me."

Upon hearing that, Bruce's expression turned incredibly pale! 

However, the pretty lady wasn't done yet, as she continued to speak while narrowing her gaze at Bruce. 

"I might as well fire you, too." The pretty lady's words were quite fierce and no room for negotiation.

In response, Bruce howled in rage. "You're a nobody, you can't fire me! I'm the owner of this company!"

Bruce couldn't accept it. Didn't his father already finalize the documents for him to become the CEO? Then, how come he was fired by a woman? A woman who he didn't know in the first place?

Suddenly, Shenna spoke out, and she was greatly shaken. "There must be a mistake, right? Bruce is the CEO, right? Don't joke around!" 

If it turns out that Bruce wasn't the CEO, her dream of promotion and owning half of the company while every employee would be at her beck and call would merely be a pipe dream! She couldn't accept it; her investment in becoming Bruce's girlfriend would lose all meaning...

Seeing how desperate Bruce and Shenna had become, the beautiful lady lifted the corner of her pinkish lips as she calmly stated.

"Mr. Bruce, I think you've misunderstood the company's intention." 

"What are you trying to say?" Bruce gritted his teeth as he inquired.

"You are unnecessary to the company, and the new CEO has given me the power to fire you whenever I wanted."

At that moment, it wasn't Bruce and Shenna that were shocked into silence; rather, everyone present made them gasp in alarm.

All the employees were thinking, "Wasn't it yesterday that the announcement was made that Bruce would be the next CEO?" Then how come Bruce is being fired right at this moment? It was a mystery to them. It had become a puzzle that was hard to solve.

"Your lying right?" Bruce couldn't take the pretty lady's insult, and he blurted it out in fury.

The pretty lady smirked at Bruce, just as he was about to continue asking her when he abruptly felt his phone's vibration. But he decided not to answer it as there was a more pressing matter.

Unexpectedly, the pretty lady spoke with a hint of sarcasm in her tone.

"I would answer the call if I were you."

Bruce frowned, nevertheless, he took his phone out only to see that it was his father calling him! Without delay, he answered the call.

"Father, I heard......" Bruce didn't even finish his words when they were cut short by his father's angry roar on the other side of the phone. 

"You ungrateful retard, who did you offend this time? The company is being auctioned, and someone has already bought it! I'm sure it's because of what you did!...."

Bruce's facial expression was slowly turning a lot paler by the seconds that passed, and ultimately he plopped on the floor tiles with a face full of despair.

"This can't be...." Bruce mumbled incoherently; it was like he had become a soulless vessel, empty and hollow.

On the other hand, Alex, who was solely watching from the sidelines, wasn't the only one surprised by the pretty lady's sudden appearance. He briefly glanced at Bruce; he shook his head. A tumor-like Bruce finally tasted what it felt like without his family's backing, and he talked about getting off his high horse. 

Actually, he deserves worse for messing with people's lives...

Alex raised his hand, as he wanted to ask that pretty lady a question.

"Miss, can you at least explain to us what's going on?" Alex said as he waited for her response.

Unlucky for him, though, that pretty lady merely raised her brows at Alex. Seeing that Alex was speechless, he was completely ignored!

At this point, the pretty lady directed her terrifying blue eyes at Shenna, who flinched.

"Your Ms. Shenna, is that correct?" The pretty lady said her voice was laced with coldness.

"Y-Yes, what about it?" Shenna was still apprehensive after listening to Bruce and his father's conversation on the phone; their family was thanked for... The question now was, why was this lady targeting her?

"Miss Shenna, the company had found that your work skills were not matching your results, so the company management decided to fire you as soon as possible." The pretty lady told her without the slightest change in her expression, as though she were simply dealing with something insignificant.

"You must be joking, right?"

Shenna said while thinking that he had misheard what the beautiful woman was saying to her.

The pretty lady didn't respond to her question, as she simply took out a file and handed it to Shenna.

Shenna was looking at the papers in his hand; on the front page of the documents, there were big "dismissal" letters written on it.... 

Instantly, Shenna's brown eyes went wide. She became disoriented, and her hands began to shake heavily. No! This couldn't be happening...

What she was holding was the dismissal document; it was for her to sign!

"I've already informed the security, and they will personally escort you outside." The pretty lady calmly said.

Alex let out a sigh. If it were before, he wouldn't hesitate to help Shenna, but considering what she did to him, he couldn't find it in his heart to show her kindness.

Sometimes one shouldn't abuse the authority that was given to them, as who knows when karma will strike and bite a chunk at them? Alex thought in his heart.

"The show is over; return to your seat!" The pretty lady scanned her gaze at everyone, making them swallow their saliva, then vastly return to their seats in a hurry.

Alex was about to resume his work at his desk when, unexpectedly, he noticed the pretty lady walking toward him.

The pretty lady told him. "Sir Alex, the CEO wanted to meet you at his office; please follow me."

Alex pointed at himself; he was dumbfounded. What in the world? Why would the new CEO want to meet him?

'It's useless to keep thinking that, anyway, I'll be meeting with the new CEO; let's just hope his not someone like Bruce, as that would be a huge headache.' Alex mumbled to himself. There was also a possibility that he would be fired!

Meanwhile, Shenna was at a loss of what would happen to her starting today, but Alex and the beautiful woman's conversation had certainly drawn her attention.

"Is it possible that Alex is getting preferential treatment from the new CEO?" Shenna mumbled as her brown eyes lit up.
