FOUR

"A divorce? You want a divorce?" Harvey exclaimed, his voice rising in shock and disbelief.

Gracia walked towards him, she met his gaze with a steely look, and all traces of warmth and affection vanished from her eyes. "Yes Harvey, a divorce. I'm sick and tired of being married to a loser like you. I deserve a better life, a better husband, someone I can brag about and be proud of. You're not that man, Harvey. You never have been and you never will be."

Harvey shook his head in disappointment, his voice quivering with emotion, "This is how you repay me? After all, I've done for you, for your family? Every morning, I make you breakfast, I clean the house, I do your laundry, I attend to your every request. And for what? So that you can throw me aside like a piece of garbage?

"And what about my job? I work every hour God sends, slaving away to bring home what little I earn. And what do I do with that money? I give it to you, every penny because I thought that was what a good husband did. I can't believe this is what I'm getting."

"Well, it's not enough, it was never enough," Gracia retorted, her voice filled with bitterness and contempt. "You should do more, Harvey, much more. Stop complaining about your measly salary of $2000. It's a pittance, it's not even enough to buy my makeup, let alone support a family. And don't get me started on the housework. Do you think you're doing us a favor by cooking and cleaning? That's your job, Harvey, your responsibility. You should be doing it without being asked, without expecting a medal or a pat on the back."

"That's enough, Harvey," Eloise snapped. "You heard my daughter, she doesn't want you anymore. Now, go and get out of here. I'll get the divorce papers, and you better sign them right away. We're sick and tired of having you in our lives."

With a contemptuous glance, Eloise turned on her heel and marched out of the room, leaving Harvey to stew in a mixture of shock and anger.

Edward, sensing his opportunity to twist the knife, strode over to Harvey with a self-satisfied smirk.

"This is what your foolishness has brought upon you, Harvey," Edward taunted with malice. "Your beloved Gracia is mine now. You were never more than a figurehead in your relationship, a pathetic excuse for a husband. And now that you're out of the picture, Gracia will be mine. We will be married, and I will give her the life she deserves - a life of luxury and pleasure, a life you could never provide."

Harvey was controlling his temper, he felt like punching the daylight out of Edward, but there was no use for that. The woman he was defending doesn't even want him.

Eloise returned and she handed over the divorce papers to him.  "Here it is, sign it and get out of our lives."

"Fine! I'll sign it, I also don't want to be in a relationship where my wife will be cheating on me!" Harvey grabbed the pen from her hand, and immediately signed the divorce papers, after signing it he tossed it on Gracia's face. "Before I go, I'll just tell you something, Gracia. You will never find a man like me." Harvey said before walking away with his red eyes.

"I also don't want to look for a man like you. Good riddance!" She yelled at him as he left.

Never would Harvey ever imagine that this day would come. Even if Gracia always insulted him and made a mockery of him, at least they'd been together for three years. He had always believed a day would come when Gracia and her family would see his efforts and acknowledge him. He had sacrificed his happiness to make sure she was always happy, even going as far as giving her all of his salary, isn't that more than enough? When a wife cheats on her husband, it is usually the wife who is kicked out, but in Harvey's case, it is different. He was the one who was kicked out for her own mistake.

What else did she want from him? Harvey was depressed, his head bleeding from the words he received from Gracia. Maybe she was right, he was just not good enough for her, the Andersons had promised to settle his sister's bill, now that he was no longer part of their family how would that be possible?

A deep sigh escaped his lips as he headed towards the hospital Nadia was being admitted to.  On his way Harvey noticed some cars following him, he first thought it was just some regular vehicles but then he noticed how fast it was gaining on him.

Finally, the car cornered him, there were three of them, he covered his eyes from the blinding flashlight from the car.

Then some hefty men stepped out of the car. Harvey's heart skipped, what do these men want from him? Were they sent by the Andersons to kill him? That was the only thing that made sense to him, they were probably sent by Eloise to get rid of him, that woman hated him and had always wished him dead.

But why do they want to kill him, he has signed the divorce papers and he's no longer in their lives.

"Who are you people? What'd you want?" He asked me to act boldly.

Then suddenly an elderly-looking man stepped out of one of the cars, he looked at Harvey for a while, Harvey could feel his heart pounding, did this man come to kill him?

Surprisingly the man removed his glasses and bowed his head. "Young master Harvey Stephenson, it's an honor to meet you" The man greeted respectfully and immediately the other men joined him. "Young Master." They all said simultaneously.

Harvey's mouth dropped, "I think you've got the wrong person." He said.

"We are very certain, you are the son of our master, Clement Stephenson." The man said.

"Stephenson?" Harvey asked to be sure if it was the same Stephenson everyone knew, Clement Stephenson was the richest man in the city, he was extremely popular and everyone wished to be part of his family.

"And who are you?" Harvey asked again.

"I am Prof Jason Butler of Stephenson, I have been assigned by your late father to search for you for some time now." He explained.

"To look for me? My parents died a long time ago and I'm not related to any of the Stephenson. I think you're mistaking me for someone else."

"Please believe us, young master, I must bring you back to the Stephenson mansion, you are the lost child of Clement and the heir to his inheritance. Please follow us back."

Whatever it was this stranger was saying doesn't make sense, there's no way he could be the son of the richest man in the city. He's just an orphan, the only family he knew and had was his sister Nadia.

"I don't know what to say, but maybe we should go to my sister, she will be the one to tell me what's going on here," Harvey said. "If what you've just said is the truth, then follow me to my sister."

"Yes, of course, we shall follow you to the young mistress, it will be an honor." Prof Jason said.

"We can drive you to where she is a young master." Prof Jason offered.

Harvey didn't feel comfortable entering a car with a stranger, he still wasn't sure if they were telling the truth. But again if they were indeed kidnappers they would have taken him away with brute force or threatened him with their guns.

Harvey then looked at the cars they came with, it was exceptionally beautiful. looking at the car, it had a masculine design, shiny black, the tires had some gold designs on it, its glass was tinted, and it looked so much like a Bugatti, although slightly different. There's no way he would reject entering such an expensive car.

"Alright then, let's go."

Prof Jason opened the passenger seat, as Harvey stepped in. The car then zoomed into the asphalt. Harvey kept looking at everything inside the car, it was beautiful inside, while the outside was black, the inside was decorated with red designs, and the air conditioner inside was massive.
