In the outskirts of Santo City. A black BMW drove slowly inside the compound of a grandiloquent building that had seven stars proudly imprinted at the top of the building.
Harry, Jane, Christel, and Mrs. Bertha stepped out of the car and stared at the building before them.
“So this is the infamous seven-star hotel. I never thought I'd get to visit this place one day, not to talk about having lunch here,” Jane laughed out loud then stared at her elder sister, Christel.
“Let's go, there's still more to show you,” Harry urged then led the way for them. He had promised to take Christel out for lunch and seeing this Jane decided to follow suit.
Just as they got inside the elevator and were about to close it a familiar figure appeared before them.
‘'What is he doing here?’ Harry's pupils shrank slightly as the familiar figure walked inside the elevator with a calm look on his face.
'What is this ungrateful man doing here? Is he by chance stalking my daughter? That's so disgusting of him,’’ Mrs. Bertha flashed Evan a disgusted expression and bit back the urge to kick him out of the elevator.
Christel stared at Evan for a while then looked away. No one knew what she was thinking but one could see the cold glints in her eyes.
“What do-” Harry wanted to stop Evan but when he saw the numbers Evan pressed, the words he intended to say quickly disappeared.
‘' That's the 20th floor! The top floor only received the most dignified guests! What is he doing there?’ Harry gasped with shock written all over his face.
'How could he enter the floor and I couldn't? Who does he think he is to try and show off by playing such cheap tricks?’ He thought then glanced at Christel then quickly understood.
'Oh my, did you think that such a cheap trick would gain Christel's attention?’ He thought and flashed Evan a disgusted look.
Evan simply stared ahead deep in his thoughts and it almost felt like he didn't see the people in the elevator.
His eyes were calm and collected as he listened to the soft music from the elevator's speaker.
“Let's go,” Harry said the instant the familiar dinged sound pierced through the thick atmosphere.
The women quickly left the elevator and waited aside to watch how Evan would get kicked out by the guards.
‘' Let's see how you will get away with this. If I, the son of one of the most influential men in this city, can't afford this floor, what makes you think your low life can gain access here?’ He smirked as he waited patiently to enjoy the show but to his dismay and that to Mrs Bertha.
Evan stepped out of the elevator with a calm look on his face and watched as the guards walked up to him.
“Please we would like to see your invite card,” One of them said.
“I don't have one,” Evan calmly replied, then took out his phone and showed him a text sent by the mayor.
“Is this enough?” He added. The guard's eyes widened in horror and they quickly cleared the way for him.
“We are truly sorry sir,” They whispered fiercely as a beard of sweat formed on their forehead.
Evan nodded but didn't say a word. They did nothing wrong and were only doing their jobs.
He walked past Harry as though he didn't see him then made his way to the room address he was given.
In the dinner room, a group of elderly men all sat around a long table with different auras emitting from them. Even the mayor was among these men and he looked calm and collected.
Each of their people had different dress patterns and symbols. They were the family heads who ruled in the shadows of Santo city.
“Are you sure he would come?” One of them asked nervously. The mighty aura they all had disappeared the instant the man mentioned ‘he’.
“I don't know. But my assistant told me that he agreed to come. So we all have to pray that he doesn't have a change of mind,” The Mayor coughed silently and then drank the hot tea before him.
Just as they were about to give up all hope. The door suddenly opened and Evan's calm and collected face appeared before them and without thinking twice they all got up on their feet and paid respect to him.
Evan returned the greetings and then took a sit on the spot left in the room.
“Ah! We are glad that you made it here sir. We thought for a moment that you might have had a change of heart,” The mayor laughed nervously as the image of what happened last time flashed in his head.
'Hopefully, there won't be any problems today.’
“ My name is Jordan Stone. The owner of the TGH business in this city. It is an honor to see you in person,” A bald man stood up and paid his greetings then took his seat.
“I am David Edward the head of the Edward family and our business is all about goods and importation,” Another man said.
A tall middle-aged man with grey hair stood up then said, “ I am Justin Greystone. The founder of the Silver Ray's company.”
He took his seat and then stared at Evan. Evan stared at him for a while as though he was trying to get something from him.
“Is there a problem?” Justin asked.
“Do you by chance know a man named Harry?” He asked and Justin's face turned pale.
Seeing the quick reaction on his face, Evan knew that he was right.
“I guess I am correct then,” Even muttered and leaned against the chair.
Justin stared at the calm man before him and he suddenly sensed that something bad must have happened.
“I sincerely apologize if my nephew had wronged you in any way. He is naive and always blinded by his arrogance. Please forgive him,” He quickly apologized.
Evan's gaze never left him and when he was about to reply the door banged open and someone walked in with full force.
Harry stared at the men in the room and frowned when he saw the displeased look on his uncle's face.
He thought maybe Evan's presence must have irritated his uncle and such he walked towards Evan and yelled at him.
“I knew you were shameless and thick-skinned but I never thought you would be this foolish! Get out of this place you low life. When will you learn to know your place?!”
“What are you waiting for, punk?” Harry yelled angrily and faced Justin to try and ask him to call the security when he froze on the spot as he noticed how breet red his uncle's face was.“What's going on, uncle? Are you feeling sick? Do you have a fever?” He muttered as he tried to check up on him but Justin lost it and sent a slap at him.“You are the one that is sick! Get out of here before I send you to jail, you moron!” He cursed angrily then quickly turned towards Evan shaking profusely.“What? Uncle what are you doing?” Harry frowned. He ignored the stinging pain on his left cheek as he was confused with what his uncle was doing. He was about to say something when he suddenly noticed something admiss. He frowned and turned towards the other families only to see how red their faces were…. They were furious!“You little punk! Did you lose home training in your previous life?” The mayor boomed.“Get this brat out of here before I lost it,” He added. He was already sweating profuse
Time flew by in a flash and soon it was morning. Evan jogged his way to the park by the river to calm himself. He looked around and noticed how desolated it was.“This place had been abandoned for as long as I can remember,” he muttered as he took a seat beside the river. He crossed his legs and sat there with his eyes closed, listening to the calm of the river and the whispers of the wind. What he was about to do was cultivating. He started this when he was six years old and always does it every morning and along with his great talent his cultivation speed differs from that of his peers.‘Shut all senses and listen to the energy from the heavens and earth,’’ He thought, then took a deep breath and released it and soon it felt like a soft glow surrounded him.The trees stopped swaying and the river turned extremely still and quiet. It suddenly felt as though he was isolated from the world and was in his own small world created for him.He took in deep breaths then sent out his senses
“Hun?” Vera gasped then hurriedly went back to pack her loots.“I thought you weren't coming over to pick me up, so why are you here?” She pouted as she held a golden necklace and raised it in the air to have a clear view of it.“This is real gold,” She then smirked at the naked man in the hall. “Thank you for this. You are so generous,”The man lowered his head in shame as he didn't have the courage to look at her. He brought this upon himself and now he must endure the shame.Evan stared at the man for a while then faced Vera. “I thought you promised that you wouldn't make any problem?” “Ah… No,” Vera gasped then ran towards him. She clasped her hands tightly together then pouted.“He challenged me for a bet and I won. Had it been that I lost, I would have been the one who will stay here half naked,” She poured cutely and her cat-like eyes turned teary.“What a fake,” Claus scoffed. He knew better than anyone that such cheap baby tricks don't work on Evan, unless he wants to preten
Evan's gaze hardened slightly and he slowly looked behind Vera, only to see Jane standing there with an ugly expression.“Oh my eyes. I thought this place was meant solely for shopping? When did it turn to a hypocritical show place?” She sneered coldly, her eyes eying Vera who was still in Evan's embrace.Evan's gaze never left her and one could see the amount of disgust they held towards her. He was about to leave but noticed Christel and Harry behind her.“What's going on?” Harry gasped. Christel's gaze fixed on Vera who's back was faced towards them, then she stared at Evan. She gazed coldly at him but didn't say a word.Evan noticed this then patted Vera's head lightly, “You can let go now, Vera,” He said.Vera frowned but still let go of him. She grumbled and was about to yell at the intruder when she suddenly paused and sized Jane up and down.“Who's this?” She frowned. She tilted her head sideways and was stunned by the beauty behind Jane.“Evan, do you know that lady over the
The both of them stepped out of the shopping mall then proceeded to return home.‘' The sky is dark already,” She frowned. She turned towards Evan and noticed that he was completely distracted. A thought crossed her mind and she quickly linked her hands around his.“What are you thinking about?” She beamed. Evan shook his head but didn't look at her, “Nothing,” “What do you mean nothing? Don't tell me you are thinking about her? Is she more beautiful than I am?” She pouted.Evan didn't say a word and instead kept moving.“Evan, you didn't answer me,”she frowned.“Your silence means she is,” She added.“The same,” He calmly replied.“What? I didn't hear that,” She frowned and leaned against him.“Who is beautiful between your ex wife and me?” She asked.“You,” He frowned. She scoffed and removed her hands from his.“I see that you still love her,” She said, slightly enraged by it. She sighed heavily then totally ignored him.Evan couldn't do anything about the situation and instead st
“Do you have any more excuses?” The man glared at the assistant.“I am sorry sir,” She bowed slightly then left to package the necklaceEvan frowned and then stared at Vera. He noticed that her gaze never left the necklace and he frowned and then kicked her shoes.'What?’ Vera glared at him. “Pay up,” He mouthed. He knows that she has more than $30,000 in her account but why she doesn't want to pay up is what baffles him.“What?!” Vera screamed frantically and all heads turned toward her direction, even Evan was stunned by her sudden outburst.‘ What's wrong with her?’ He frowned.“Ma'am, did something happen?” The assistant ran over worriedly.Vera pointed at Evan and then started crying, “I can't deal with him anymore. He is a cheat and now he wants me to pay up to $30,000. How can I afford that type of amount? He promised me that he would buy me jewelry in this shop and that was the reason I came here,”She held her chest then placed a hand on her forehead, “He made a fool out of
“What is going on here?” A cold voice resonated in the hall and everyone's gaze turned towards the place it came from. A tall broad-shouldered man stepped out from an office with quick strides. I brushed off the strands of hair from his face and then stared at the chaos before him.“Who's causing the noise here?” He boomed. The assistant quickly walked forward and bowed her head.“I am so sorry sir. I tried to stop them but-” She tried to explain but the man didn't allow her to finish the word.He flicked his fingers and she froze in place.“I didn't hire you to give me excuses. If this is how you take care of the shop when I am around how much worse would it be when I am absent?” He said in disapproval.“I am so sorry sir,” She said sincerely. The man shook his head and then lost interest in her. “Get ready to resign, that would be after I am done taking care of the mess before me,”He said coldly then walked past her. Surprisingly, she didn't try to stop him but instead went silen
The car came into an abrupt halt and silence fell inside the car. “What was that?” Vera asked with a tight frown on her face.“I don't know, please give me a few minutes to check it out,” William hurriedly replied, then stepped out of the car.Vera walked out after him and so did Evan. They both made their way to the front of the car and frowned when they saw William squatted in front of… Someone.“Goodness, get her inside the car quick!” Vera exclaimed and rushed over.“Be careful, please. Her legs are fractured,” William hurriedly said and then gently carried the young lady towards the car.Her long golden hair covered her bloody face and it was impossible to see who she was.Thank goodness there weren't too many people around, else it would have been a lot of headache trying to get out of the scene.“Take us to the nearest hospital,” Evan calmly ordered. “Yes sir,” William shakingly replied, then turned on the engine and stepped on the accelerator.“Please no!” But just as he was
The anticipation in the courtroom was palpable as I sat beside my legal team, my heart pounding with nervous excitement. 6The glow of my laptop screen illuminated the dimly lit room as I sat hunched over my desk, fingers flying across the keyboard as I typed out the latest post for our social media campaign. The digital realm had become our battleground, a space where we could amplify our voices and mobilize support for our cause with the click of a button."Our latest post is live," I announced to the group of young activists gathered around me, their eyes shining with excitement and anticipation. "Let's see if we can get it trending."As we watched the numbers climb steadily, I couldn't help but marvel at the power of social media to effect change in the world. With each like, share, and comment, we were spreading awareness about Edward's corrupt practices and rallying support for our mission to bring him to justice."This is amazing," one of the young activists exclaimed, her face lit up with excitement as she scrolled through the comments pouring in from supporters around the world. "We're really m
As the sun cast its golden rays over the bustling streets of Venton City, a sense of anticipation hung in the air like a tangible presence. The seeds of change had been sown, and now it was time for them to bear fruit. With determination coursing through my veins, I set out to meet with a group of citizens who had taken it upon themselves to uncover the truth behind the corruption that plagued our city. The grassroots journalism initiative had gained momentum in recent weeks, as more and more Venton City residents grew disillusioned with Edward's iron-fisted rule. Now, as I approached the modest office that served as the nerve center of their operation, I could sense the simmering energy of a group on the brink of discovery.Inside, the atmosphere crackled with excitement as I greeted the dedicated individuals who had dedicated themselves to the pursuit of truth. Their faces were alight with passion and determination, their eyes shining with a fierce resolve that sent a shiver of exci
The sun hung low in the sky as I stood before a gathering of eager volunteers, my heart swelling with pride at the sight of so many willing hands ready to make a difference. We had organized a community outreach program to provide much-needed resources and support to the marginalized communities of Venton City, and the turnout exceeded even my most optimistic expectations."Thank you all for being here today," I began, my voice carrying across the bustling square. "Together, we have the power to make a real difference in the lives of those who need it most."The crowd erupted into applause, their enthusiasm contagious as they eagerly awaited their assignments for the day. I glanced around at the diverse group of volunteers, from seasoned activists to curious bystanders drawn in by the promise of positive change."Alright, let's get to work," I declared, a sense of purpose driving me forward as I began delegating tasks and organizing teams. From distributing food and clothing to offeri
As I navigated the bustling streets of Venton City, a sense of unease settled over me like a shroud. Everywhere I turned, I could feel the weight of Edward's oppressive presence, his toxic behavior poisoning the very air we breathed. But despite the growing resentment simmering beneath the surface, the citizens of Venton City remained powerless to challenge his authority.I watched in disgust as Edward threw trash recklessly onto the pristine sidewalks, his actions a blatant display of disregard for the environment and the community he purported to serve. But as much as I longed to confront him, I knew that doing so would only draw suspicion upon myself, further fueling his relentless pursuit of me.Instead, I kept my distance, observing from the shadows as Edward continued his reign of terror unabated. His vulgar language echoed through the streets, offending the ears of passersby who dared not speak out against him for fear of reprisal. But amidst the chaos, a glimmer of hope emerge
The search for Davis had led us to the outskirts of Venton City, where rumors of his presence had been circulating. As my team scoured the area, I couldn't shake the feeling of unease that gnawed at the pit of my stomach. Davis was a master of deception, and I knew all too well that he could be hiding in plain sight, waiting to strike when least expected.I trudged through the overgrown foliage, my senses on high alert as I scanned the surroundings for any sign of Davis. The sun beat down relentlessly, casting long shadows that seemed to dance mockingly around me. But amidst the oppressive heat and stifling humidity, I remained determined to uncover the truth.Suddenly, a rustling in the bushes ahead caught my attention, and I froze, my hand instinctively reaching for the gun holstered at my side. But before I could react, a familiar voice called out from the darkness."Evan, it's me," came Davis's voice, tinged with desperation.I hesitated for a moment, unsure whether to trust him.
As I sat in my dimly lit office in , my mind raced with worry. The news of Rosetta being found by one of the hidden families struck me like a bolt of lightning. I had taken pity on her, buying her from that wretched auction house, hoping to give her a chance at freedom. But now, she was in the hands of another, and I feared what they might do with her.The family who found Rosetta was the secretive Montague clan. Known for their ruthlessness and secrecy, they operated in the shadows, pulling strings and controlling outcomes without ever revealing themselves to the public. I knew dealing with them would be tricky, but I had no choice if I wanted to ensure Rosetta's safety. However, my plans were thrown into disarray when I received word that Edward, a key figure in Venton City, was suspicious of my involvement in the attack on the military base. I had been trying to save Davis's sister, but now it seemed my actions had drawn unwanted attention.Unable to risk exposing myself further, I
“What do you have?” He asked immediately he spotted her after returning from the meeting. “So this is what I saw” she announced, turning the laptop to him for him to view what was on display. It was a CCTV camera footage, the black and white quality made it difficult for him to see the face of each passerby but he could identify their genders with their physiques. It seemed like a regular street scene , with people walking in and out of frame going about their day like no cares in the world until one particular figure caught his eye. A lady figure wearing a caught with a distinctive gait, appeared on the screen. She looked suspicious as she kept looking back and forth for some reason before disappearing into the mansion.'What am I looking at, Vera?' Evan asked, his voice low and urgent.'That's the south entrance to Rose street where the event was held,' she replied, her eyes locked on his. 'And whose that lady entering there” “Keep watching and find out” she simply said.Evan's mi
