Chapter 7

Before the she wolf could attack Jasper Thane jumped and changed form in midair. He clenched his teeth into her hind leg causing her to fall flat on the ground. She yipped out in pain. Thane began growling, he was having a conversation with her that none of them could hear. A few moments later they both changed shape.

“Please excuse my sister Andrea. Like me she wants nothing more than to avenge our father’s death. She did not know that we have called a truce.” Jasper waved his hand. “No blood no foul. Let us get on with the ritual and put this unnecessary violence behind us.”

The ritual consisted of three parts. First, they had to say an oath. Then they sealed their bond in blood. Lastly, they run as a pack. It was all rather simple, but these rituals were not just mere words. It was a magic that a shaman passed on to them long ago. If any member of either pack broke this bond in anyway, they would be met with instant death. If any of them had ill intentions against another they would start glowing with a dark aura that every wolf could plainly see.

It was impossible for you to break the oath, that was why they demanded a ritual before any packs joined together. Thane called his pack to surround both him and Jasper before he made his oath. “I vow that your pack is my pack. Your enemy is my enemy. Your family is my family until the end of time.” He than took a knife and cut his hand open.

Jasper recited his oath. “I vow that your pack is my pack. Your enemy is my enemy. Your family is my family until the end of time.” He also cut his hand open. Then Thane and Jasper both took one another’s hands and said simultaneously “Let us bind this oath in blood and let it be so!” Their hands began to burn almost as if their hands were fusing together and becoming one. They could feel some eternal change within themselves. The wolves around them felt it as well.

“Let us all transform into our true form. The wolf is what makes us who we are. Before we can be considered as one harmonious pack we must run together. From this day forward let it be known that you do not just answer to me you also answer to Sabastian alfa of the Storm rose pack!” Thane swiftly changed and began running. One by one every werewolf followed him until they were all running briskly through the woods together.

They felt the pack members from Storm rose join with them. They had all felt the change as well and it made them want to run along with there new brothers and sisters. Sylvia running the fastest amongst them. She could not bare it any longer to be away from Jasper. He sprinted quickly towards her so they could reunite. Once together again they ran side by side until dawn. Exhausted the pack separated and went back to their own places. Sleep overtook Jasper as soon as he laid upon the cave floor.

Day two

Jasper awoke around noon. He was angry with himself for wasting half a day. He found Sylvia outside the cave mouth cooking over a campfire. Jasper sniffed appreciatively. The smell of sausage and potatoes wafted from the skillet. Sylvia placed it on a plate and handed it to him. After his belly was full the two mates headed to the moonstones camp. Jasper wanted to start looking for the men who had killed Thane’s father. There was no doubt they were all dead now. Humans do not normally live past a hundred let alone three.

“Hello, my brother and my sister. I had already sent some scouts out this morning when we got back from our run. They just returned. Come let’s see if they had found out anything about the savages that assassinated my father.” Sylvia told Jasper she would wait there. She wanted to get to know some of the other wolves in this pack. He kissed her on the mouth for a few passionate seconds than followed Thane to the only hut on the ground.

“This building here is where we do all of our strategy meetings. I guess we can call it our base of operation.” Thane said conversationally. Inside the hut were tables made from old tree logs and its seats out of stumps. Maps and papers covered the walls, and there was a big bulletin board right in the center of them. On the table in the center of the room was a complete model of the town below them. It was amazing how much detail the craftsman was able to recreate.

“Alfa, I have good news and bad news. The good news is we found out who the men were or rather what they were. They were part of a secret organization. The bad new is no one could tell us where they are or if they are still operational.” Jasper said coldly, “Let me guess the order you are talking about is The Order of The Supernatural.”
