Fifty-three: Survival of the prettiest

Mia sighed as she fell into her bed and closed her eyes shut. She didn't know how to feel, she was angry, sad, anxious, and curious, all at the same time.

Why wouldn't she be? She hadn't heard from any of them and she had always missed her chance to call and check in.

For all she knew, they could have removed Ivan's oxygen support and buried him already or Ivan could have woken up and gotten back to his usual life at school.

The last thing she heard from Alfred was Ivan was in a coma and he was not responding to treatment like he was supposed to.

The door to her room pushed open and her mother walked in with a concerned look on her face for her daughter. She went to her and sat next to her on the bed.

"I'm fine... Cause I know that is your question." Mia said before her mother said anything.
