Ten: Mistaken identity

Ivan stared at the woman with utmost surprise. She was at least seventy plus and judging from her dressing, she was from a wealthy family. But one thing he knew was he didn't have a grandmother or at least, Alfred was yet to mention it.

He gently took the woman by her arms and tried to unwrap them from his, while wearing the most modest smile. "I am sorry ma'am but I am not your grandson."

"Oh but you are! I recognize my grandson! You left home a few weeks ago and didn't come back to see me. Why did you do that Caleb?" She pulled his arm, almost in tears as she stared at him.

Now Ivan knew that they definitely weren't related. If Caleb was his real name then Alfred would have mentioned that too. "Ma'am, there is a mistake here, I am not Caleb. My name is Ivan." He said to her with a very gentle tone.

"Ivan?" She asked him. She looked a little bit confused on hearing his name. "But… you are Caleb, are you not?"

"I am not ma'am. I don't even know a Caleb to begin with."
