Shapeshifters 1

Inside the classroom, Peter anxiously awaits the arrival of his friends, his mind filled with the events of the previous night. He vividly remembers encountering Scott, the mysterious man in the hood, the unsettling revelations, and their discussion about werewolves. With every entrance through the door, Peter's gaze fixates on it, hoping to see James or Scott among the arriving students.

Approaching him, Derek confronts Peter with a menacing threat, vowing to inflict harm upon him. Unfazed by the hostility, Peter chooses to ignore Derek's words and rests his head on the desk. Derek, acknowledging a friend nearby, exchanges a nod with him, hinting at a clandestine plot they have concocted. However, their whispered plans are interrupted when someone calls out Peter's name and taps him on the head. It's James.

Angrily, Peter questions whether the encounter with Derek actually happened. James, his voice laced with concern, suggests that if the claims made by the man in the hood are accurate, they find themselves in a grave predicament. Accepting their involvement in the unfolding events, Peter inquires about Scott's whereabouts, to which James speculates that he might be at home since they haven't seen him.

As Peter joins the classroom, the teacher commences the lesson, but his words fall upon deaf ears. The thoughts echoing in Peter's mind are those of the hooded man: "You caused it" and "and you will bear it." Their weight hangs heavy upon him, overwhelming his attention. Scott's voice cuts through the silence, angrily demanding to know what they did.

In a monstrous voice, the hooded man replies, accusing them of unleashing a force upon themselves. Peter seeks clarification, asking what they have unleashed and what the man is implying. The enigmatic speaker points to the door and the stone, leaving the friends to exchange bewildered glances as the realization dawns upon them.

James interjects, questioning the veracity of the legend surrounding the statue. The speaker confirms its authenticity. However, Peter notices that the stone remains present. The hooded man explains that the soul departed, now residing within an innocent body, all because of their actions. He further adds that the body armies are to blame for the transformative events that have befallen them.

Realizing the weight of their choices, Peter acknowledges that he possessed the power of the werewolf and had an opportunity to prevent the consequences. Before he can delve further into his thoughts, James slams his desk, startling Peter, who hadn't even noticed the departure of the teacher.

After school, Peter and James embark on a journey to Scott's house. As they traverse the miles, a sense of unease grips Peter, and he feels a sharp pain in his back, causing him to turn around and question its source. Before he can utter a word, he finds Derek and several others brandishing a long stick. Peter instantly senses that his day is about to take a disastrous turn.

Derek stands before Peter, asserting that he cannot escape him. Peter offers an apologetic plea, as he often does, further fueling Derek's fury. Without restraint, Derek strikes Peter in the face, causing him to collapse in pain. Kneeling on the ground, Peter defiantly confronts Derek, denouncing his bullying behavior and refusing to be humiliated any longer.

James interjects, seeking to understand why Derek targeted Peter, questioning his motives. In response, Owen grabs James from behind, restraining him, while Mike and David deliver blows to his abdomen, eliciting grunts of pain. In the midst of the chaos, Derek delivers another powerful blow to Peter, who manages to evade the attack this time. Summoning his newfound strength,

Peter retaliates against Derek, swiftly picking him up by his leg and causing him to fall to the ground. Seizing the opportunity, Peter lunges at Derek, leaving Owen and the others to abandon James and rush to their leader's aid. They separate Peter from Derek and free him from his grip. Fueled by anger, Derek grabs the previously disregarded stick, now intent on using it. Once again, Peter humiliates Derek, further provoking him. In a fit of rage, Derek swings the stick and strikes Peter with force.

James desperately attempts to intervene, pleading with Peter to stop and warning him that he may seriously harm Derek. However, the Peter James once knew seems to have transformed completely. Unrelenting, Peter continues to strangle Derek, who is helpless under his grip. Yet, as Derek's eyeball begins to turn blue, he musters every ounce of strength to pull Peter away. With a well-placed kick, Derek manages to free himself, and Peter's eye returns to its normal state.

Suddenly, a police officer's voice echoes from a distance, demanding to know what they think they are doing. Seizing the opportunity, the group scatters, fleeing the scene to evade capture. Catching their breath after the intense altercation, James shares his observation with Peter: "Derek changed; he has it."

Their minds overwhelmed with confusion and fear, Peter and James stand in the aftermath of the violent encounter. The revelation of Derek's transformation raises more questions about their own circumstances and the forces they have unleashed. Uncertain of what lies ahead, they brace themselves for the unknown challenges that await them on their journey.
