Shapeshifters 2.

Scott, Peter, and James recounted the events to Scott, who reacted with surprise, asking if Derek had also undergone a transformation. Peter confirmed that Derek had indeed changed, specifically pointing out his eyes as evidence. James, wearing a curious expression, questioned Peter about his nearly fatal encounter with Derek, expressing concern over his violent actions.

Peter struggled to explain, conveying his confusion and a mysterious surge of power he had felt during the altercation. The group fell into contemplative silence until Peter broke it, recalling the hooded man's words about there being others with similar powers and the need to face the consequences. They all nodded in agreement, acknowledging the gravity of their situation.

Seeking clarity, Peter rephrased his question, asking who they were. Scott corrected him, emphasizing that they should focus on understanding what they had become rather than who they were. James interjected, pondering whether they should meet with the hooded man for answers.

As they continued their conversation, a knock on the door interrupted them. Startled, Scott inquired about the visitor. His mother called out from outside, and as she opened the door, she expressed her concern for Scott's well-being, recalling his sudden disappearance and subsequent return, claiming everything was fine. Scott reassured her, insisting that he was healthy and there was nothing to worry about.

His mother expressed her frustration, recounting how both Peter and Scott's mothers had shared similar concerns about their disappearances. Peter and James affirmed their well-being when questioned by Scott's mother, but her probing continued, urging the children to confide in them if anything or anyone was troubling them.

Exchanging intense looks and nods, the friends silently acknowledged the weight of their shared secret.

Two weeks later, the friends resumed their normal teenage lives, attempting to bury the events of the past and move forward. Fortunately, the symptoms they had experienced did not reoccur, granting them a sense of relief.

One aspect of Peter's personality that both James and Sarah found tiresome was his incessant reading. Peter's bookish nature often disrupted their conversations, and they would jest about how his extensive knowledge left them hungry for more than just intellectual nourishment. Sarah playfully complained about being hungry, despite having just finished supper, attributing her appetite to Peter's ramblings.

Peter, nicknamed "Effico" for his efficiency, smiled at the playful banter and made room for Sandra to join them. Curious about Peter's friends, Sandra inquired about their whereabouts. Peter casually replied that they were probably off eating somewhere. Sandra, teasingly, insinuated that he preferred reading to spending time with them, prompting Peter to grin before Derek and his crew passed by, shooting him a stern look.

Concerned for his safety, Sandra urged Peter to leave promptly. Unexpectedly, Sandra revealed that she had broken up with Derek. Surprised, Peter asked if it was true, his grin fading as he processed the news. Sandra noticed his reaction and questioned why he seemed happy about her breakup. Peter, hesitant and cautious, bit his lip, unable to provide a clear answer.

Suddenly, a roar and growl echoed through the air, causing both Peter and Sandra to spring to their feet. Wondering what could be causing the commotion, they realized that everyone in the classroom had heard it too. Without warning, a tiger appeared in the middle of the school compound, snarling and charging towards a female student.

Just as chaos ensued, Scott entered the scene, his eyes glowing white. Standing in the center, he exerted an unseen force, causing the tiger to swiftly retreat and disappear.
