“Brother, are you okay?” Reed said the moment he turned towards his brother who almost stumbled while he managed to hold him firmly.

“What… just happened?” Vincent asked, clearly flabbergasted as he held his brother's hands. Before the man could respond, he continued in a frightened voice,

“They will definitely come back again! You should have watched them hurt me. They only did that because I had no money to pay for the month.”

“They can't hurt us anymore. Trust me”

Reed said calmly even though he was inwardly surging in anger, trying to convince his brother.

The man shook his head as his eyes darted around.

“A lot has happened three years ago. It's not the same as it was in the past. Those people work directly for a man named Harrison Rudolph”

Immediately, that name rang a bell.

Wasn't that one of the powerful magnates in the state?

In fact, he ranked the fifth wealthiest man in the city.

He was the same man who personally used his resources to build the city's bridge when it collapsed, earning a good impression from the people.

He was personally in awe of what the man had done also because it took a lot for a wealthy man to use his resources to help the masses.

What the hell was his brother saying? They did not even have any connections with that man? Why then would he constantly torment his brother in his absence?

Then, he recollected what the G-Thugs had said earlier about Harrison.

However, everything did not seem to add up.

“Isn't Cornell supposed to be the one tormenting you since he sent people to kill me in jail?” He asked again while Vincent exhaled out.

Then, Reed walked into their damaged house.

“Everything is complicated. You'll understand soon enough” His brother replied. Reed knew his brother was a man of few words.

However, he wanted more answers. Seeing the look on Reed’s face, he continued in hesitation,

“Everything starts with Cornell because he is extremely powerful.

He has a direct connection with the underground bosses that you can never defeat even if you think of wanting to take revenge.”

“And?”

“Harrison came into the picture when Cornell put me up for sale including everything we had”

Wait, what? That was the most absurd thing he ever heard.

His brother used to be very handsome. Even though they didn't have much, young women in their street wanted him.

Now, he looked useless. They dared to sell his brother?

Reed thought as he balled his fist furiously.

“How? In this house?”

Reed could not help but ask in anger.

However, Vincent did not want to remember what had happened and refused to say anything about that as he continued,

“Harrison being a greedy man in nature and different from what the people thought of him declared that he wanted me.

He needed a stunt to take out his anger on which was why he bought me”

“However, I refused. And so, he told me I had to pay off every dime you and I owed. And so, he sold our family's business but it was not enough”

“Then, Cornell brought back the G-Thugs after he claimed you had to pay for damages and since you weren't around, I had to pay for it.

Whenever I don't have it like earlier, I'll be tormented”

They made me sign a lot of papers that stated I was their most poorest debtor and had a long sum of amount to pay”

“Those same people that tormented you three years ago to torment me every month but I still couldn't repay them because the job I have is barely enough to feed me.

I'm telling you this because I don't want you to go after them to create more issues. Cornell and Harrison are people you don't want to mess with”

However, within Reed, he was boiling in so much anger and wished he could explode against the people that hurt them immediately.

It's just a matter of time! They won't know what hit them when I am done!

Then, Vincent had his mud stained shirt unbuttoned and pointed at his chest that was fully imprinted with the amount he owed.

Reed's eyes could not contain it as his heart became heavy.

“Harrison must have employed people in the family business, right?”

His brother looked at him. Worried that anything could happen without responding, he said instead, “Please don't do something that will send you back to jail. Now that you are back, let's live our lives silently.

You should think of a new name for yourself so that your real name won't cause you a stain.

With time, we will rise back on our feet”

“It's fine. I need to make sure you're okay and…”

However, Vincent interrupted him.

“Reed, I'm okay. You don't have to be worried about me.”

However, he knew his brother wasn't okay.

Deciding that he would provide healing support to his brother in the evening as soon as he was fast asleep, he fisted his palms tightly with a cold sneer as he bit on his lips.

“Brother, I'll be right back. My attention seems needed somewhere” Reed said. Without waiting to hear anything else, he dashed off, enveloped in anger.

However, he wasn't. He was simply communicating with the deities just the same way the old hag, Xavier had taught him in the past three years of being in prison. That moment, Xavier walked in with his head lowered and sat across from him. With his hands folded, he looked at Reed Twist whose expression he could not decipher. “How does it feel to leave the prison tomorrow?” He asked respectfully while Reed’s heart suddenly felt heavy as he clenched his fist. All his mind screamed was revenge against what they had done to him. The thought of the reason he was in jail came running in his mind as he stared into space, trying his best not to let his anger get the best part of him because things could go downhill. Three years ago, he was about to get married to his fiancée, Sharon of seven ye
