Chapter 72. Forbidden desire

"I can't believe Alfred also took the day off that Curtis gave to all the employees... damn traitor!" complained Beth in the kitchen, accompanied by Baxter.

She stood in front of an electric coffee maker trying to brew some coffee for herself that afternoon when they were forced to fend for themselves.

"He was the first one out that door," reported Baxter, seated in a chair.

"Damn contraption," Beth cursed as she couldn't get it to work.

"I think you're supposed to put the water in first and then press that red button," Baxter indicated with his finger without getting up from the chair.

Beth turned to glare at him with a look of anger on her face.

"Why don't you come and do it yourself if you know how?" Beth complained angrily.

Baxter settled into his chair and assumed a much more comfortable posture. "No, not at all. I'm also on my day off."

Baxter placed his hands behind his head and sighed to express his state of utter relaxation.
