Chapter 73. Amber's mistake

Baxter went to bed after a very relaxing day at the wonderful pool of the Stanton mansion, taking advantage of that day off that Curtis had given to all the mansion employees.

He fell like a rock onto his pillow, and within seconds, he was fast asleep. He needed rest to be ready to face the next day. His future within the mansion was uncertain now that Curtis was the new boss.

Baxter began to have a very strange dream in which he couldn't move, no matter how hard he tried. Perhaps it was the phenomenon called 'sleep paralysis,' but this was much more vivid.

He was even sure that he was still awake and could open his eyes. So he did, only to find Beth's face terrorizing him.

Beth was sitting beside the bed, smoking a cigarette, exhaling smoke from her lungs, and smiling as she watched him, as if she were watching over his sleep.
