Tom let out a heavy sigh as he settled into his chair at the police station, the early morning sun casting a warm glow over the busy office. The bustling sound of officers and ringing phones filled the air, creating a harmonious symphony of law enforcement. Martinez, who has now grown fond of Tom and the case at hand walked briskly beside him, a steaming cup of coffee in hand.

"Morning, Tom," Martinez greeted like they haven't met this morning, her voice slightly hoarse from a late-night investigation. "Any updates on the ongoing case?"

Tom shook his head, his mind preoccupied with the call he had received from Lisa moments before her arrival. Lisa, who he shared some sort of romantic connection with, had a way of picking up on even the smallest of nuances. The moment he answered her call, he could sense the tension in her voice, a stark contrast to the light and playful banter they usually shared. There was something off, and Tom couldn't shake a slight unease settling in his chest.
