Gas explosion

THE SON THEY NEVER WANTED

CHAPTER 4

" I'm sorry Chris Brent, but we can't offer you such a loan without collateral worth it." The Man In a gray suit and white lenses said softly.

"But I will pay you back, The company is doing well and you can see from the stock shares " Chris cried Inwardly in frustration as he hoped that he reconsiders his words and grants him.

"The company is doing well but we all know that you can't pay that loan!" He slammed and Chris felt a stab in his chest.

"Excuse me?"

The man sighed as he leaned back on his chair and flicked his pen. "Stop hiding behind the curtains Chris, You don't have a share in Darius' group of companies. You're no CEO neither are you a beneficiary, so tell me why I will give you a loan worth 100 million dollars to a pauper?"

He said irritatingly and Chris swallowed hard and stared around, hoping no other person heard what he said. His throat burned with a heavy lump and his eyes sheened with tears. His secret was slowly spreading outside the company to various parts of the City.

He opened his mouth to say something but closed it back and stood up.

"Who told you this?" He finally managed to speak.

"Isn't it obvious, you keep using a cab when you're supposed to own your car with this repeated suit when you claim to control millions, besides that, I always follow instructions?"

The last sentence just hit him hard as he scoffed and walked out. He was following Darius' instructions and that could explain the denial he had in other banks.

He went back to the company and thought hard about what to do to pay back the money and the text he received from his phone last night.

The door barged open and his friend walked in looking so disheveled as if he had seen some nightmare.

"What is it, Vincent?"

"It's not good, the police are on their way here and I'm sure that they are looking for you." He said and a gasp escaped Christ's lips and before he could utter a word, They all walked in flashing their ID cards before him.

"You're under arrest Chris Brent."

"Excuse me, for what?"

"For violation of rights, destruction of properties, attempted murder!" They slammed and he sighed.

"That's ridiculous!" He yelled out but they would hear none of that.

"Why would you arrest him out of the blue, don't you think it might be a setup since he's the Ceo?"

Vincent asked but the monks scoffed and handcuffed him forcefully, dragging him out of the office with prying eyes all over him.

"I knew he was the one!" One of the workers slammed and they watched Chris being dragged out.

" The fact that he hides under this company is so irritating! Why can't Darius just throw him out?"

"He's just been kind, married his daughter you know. He would do anything to cover the shame."

They kept on ranting until Chris was out of their sight and thrown into the Van, with cameras and Paparazzi everywhere.

It was truly a shameful sight for Chris and he had his head bowed and lamented his ugly plight.

His mother died when he was twelve right before him in a gas explosion when was cooking with his mum and his dad and brother went out to get some groceries.

He survived it because he wasn't in the kitchen when that happened, just a little more step to get something in his room and everything blacked out.

Life hasn't been very funny since then as his mother was practically the shield of the home, and his dad lost his job at one of the chemical companies he was working for just because he chose to mourn his wife.

It was an excruciating experience till now as he wiped the tears in his eyes. He had been at the mercy of Darius and his family and he had no hope of breaking free from them, whatsoever.

The moment they stepped out of the Van, Logan stood before him.

"Cells will look good on you." He chuckled and Chris fumed.

"You did this, didn't you?" He asked with spite, he should have killed him when he had the chance.

"Did Darius send you to me?" He laughed and shook his head." That old man has the effrontery."

"What's your business with Darius?"I asked him.

Logan smiled and came closer to him. "He killed my mother and I'm going to wipe away everything that has to do with him starting from his wretched son-in-law!"

He said with vigor and Chris frowned.

"I'll make sure I take everything from him while he keeps looking for files for my company."

"Why are you telling me this?"

Chris was so irritated at his sight, he badly wanted to punch him and he wondered why the police were doing nothing to a well-known drug dealer.

"Because you threw me off guard, a mere idiot like you running under Darius' roof has a lot of skeletons in the cupboard. How many people have you killed for him?"

Chris gasped at such a confession that his blood ran cold which made Logan burst into laughter.

"I'll make sure you don't step an inch out while you're in there, I've got enough evidence for your dirty deeds." He said dryly and with that, he walked away.

Chris struggled to break free from the man's grip but he was dragged inside instead.

Logan's threat wasn't the type that was bluffing he has raw pain and vengeance in his eyes and he was going to start with him when he knew nothing about what happened to his mother.

He can't stay here, he needs to provide Darius with money and save his family.

"Please, I need to get out!" He yelled but a huge punch was sent to his face.

"We don't make noise here!" The one who had gripped him. by arm earlier slammed back and Chris gritted his teeth.

"I have the right to make a call right?"

He asked and retrieved his phone from his pocket to call Vincent when something struck his vision in a flash he stared at his phone shakily and shook his head in disbelief.

A hundred and fifty million dollars was credited into his account!

"No! You don't have the right." The officer slammed and collected his phone forcefully.
