It was at this point that Richard discovered that he had uttered something.

“I did not say anything, I'm just appreciating Mr Thomas for coming to our rescue”, Richard reluctantly said.

Since Amelia did not hear clearly what Richard said, she let it go.

She was still a bit curious to know why Thomas was there at the exact time that Richard was about to be beaten.

When Thomas realized this, he decided to still remind Amelia of the reason why he was there so that she would not suspect Richard further.

“Like I said earlier, I was just passing by when I found out something like this was happening, and I came to resolve the issue, so now that I'm done here I will have to take my leave”, Thomas said convincingly.

Amelia felt convinced by Thomas' words because that was the only way that she could explain the situation.
