Chapter 35: The educational program.

“Because raising a child a thousand kilometers away from any living human is a bad idea!” Keet sighed while sinking into the chair he was sitting on, under the frightened eyes of Birdy, whose suit also melted down into the floor turning into nothingness.

“A… Adam… your… friend! What happened… to him?! Was he a ghost!” Birdy jumped behind Adam for protection, visibly shaking in fear, he knew of the existence of cluster fabric, but he had no idea about its function, nor he ever seen it before.

To him, the apex of technology, is the old machinery he helps Mr. Roland fix in his work shop. He often heard him talk about other things on the phone, however, he didn’t bother him with questions, to not make him angry, or annoy him and never find a job again.

“Don’t worry Birdy! Keet is a friendly ghost.” Adam had many things on his mind, and wasn’t ready to explain the situation to Birdy, not when he himself didn’t fully understand the situation. “Keet! Give Birdy full access to the network and educate him a little.” He dropped that responsibility on Keet instead.

A white circle appeared around Birdy’s foot, and before he could do any thing, he found himself trapped in a white capsule as tall as him, multiple cables crawled on his head, irritating his skin like a thousand insects moving on his scalp, it wasn’t painful, just irritating.

Not Giving him a chance to panic, he found himself in a huge white empty space, extending as far as his sight can reach, Yellow dots of light started gathering at a 2 meter distance from him, making the shape of a human, the color slowly seeped into the luminous particles as a man emerged, it was the same man who melted in front of his eyes a moment ago.

“Hello! This is the Educational program, My name is Keet, and I’m your version of the System Core.” The man looked a little different from what he was before, he looked like an old respectful white skinned man, attired in a formal black suit, with white gloves on both hands, he had a well groomed white beard, and a smooth white short hair swept back.

While Birdy was trapped in the educational virtual reality program, the tree beside the wall swayed left and right as the invisible ship took off silently.

The internal area of the ship smoothly shrinked and changed, the fancy furniture disappeared into the walls, the seat Adam occupied turned into a comfortable space ship seat, the capsule Birdy’s trapped in rested on a 45 degree angle aligned with Adam’s seat.

On the outside, the invisible ship morphed into a smooth elongated teardrop shape, accelerating silently towards the south.

Unlike normal cars, that had to be built from solid materials, and needed a practical design to suit all purposes. a ship that can change shapes at will have the advantage of taking the optimal shape for aerodynamic drag reduction, while being a comfortable vessel.

The trip would take them about 6 hours to reach their destination undetected, and to avoid any cities or check points along the way.

Adam took this chance to try and understand a few things from the symbiote, he found himself lost about everything that recently happened, he firstly asked about the dangerous situation that the miscalculation of the skill led to, if Keet wasn’t there to save him, or didn’t reach him on time, he would have died for sure, either by suffocating from the lack of oxygen, or fell to his death having no energy to safely land.

The original plan to deceive the resident management department didn’t include flying at all. the absorption of the gravity stone was meant to increase the weight of his father’s clone when he creates it from just 10 kilograms of fabric.

Using 70 kilograms of fabric was possible, but the radiation jamming device’s blueprint found on the network wasn’t that powerful, it worked perfectly when tested against the park’s robots arena, they could test and improve the device, however, they didn’t have the blueprints for the scanners used by the department for sufficient testing. the plan already had a low success rate, adding another variable wasn’t a good idea.

When he learned that he could fly however, he was so eager to try it that he forgot everything else and just rushed it.

‘What happened with the skill back there?! Why does it consume so much energy? And why couldn’t I control it even though I can make a small ball float stably?’ Adam trusted in the abilities of the symbiote too much, which made him take that leap of faith when he launched him self in the air without a moment of hesitation.

Having the ability to over power a 300 years old artificial intelligence made him think that it can do anything, and knowing that it was using his own subconscious to achieve such a thing boosted his ego even further.

[Testing flight on a safe altitude with safety measures is crucial for the development of the skill.]

The symbiote reminded him that it already warned him about this, he thought he just needs to jump like a bird and the symbiote would do the rest.

“Keet! Can you slow down and drop me out for a while! I need to try something! Just keep an eye on me!”

“What are you thinking kid! We are going Mach 4 right now! You still want to learn how to fly?!”

“Yeah! just stop in a safe area and drop me out.” Adam didn’t plan on abandoning his desire to fly, this time however, he is ready, Keet is with him, no peace keeper drones around, and his energy is full, the perfect training environment.
