The inside of the ship was almost the same as Adam’s living room back home, but smaller, and the ceiling was closer at only 2.5 meters high. It included a comfy sofa, two chairs occupied by Adam and Keet, and a coffee table in the middle.
On the wall there were pictures of Adam and his father and mother, some of the pictures were moving and repeating a certain pose or action, it was like a moment frozen in time, so clear and detailed, and almost alive.
It was fancy, and every thing smelled nice, Birdy never saw any thing like it before, he knew nothing other then the orphanage and its walls, and every thing he knew about the outside came from the books and comics he always reads.
“So what’s your answer?”
“You kidding me!! Of course I’ll come! I hate this place, everyone is mean to me! Even if you are going to hell it would be better then this place! But I hope you’re not though! It’s gonna be hot, and I don’t want to die burning! I think I would taste good though…”
Keet was already annoyed by Birdy’s never ending blabbering, his consciousness was anchored to Adam now, he wouldn’t be able to leave him or turn his attention to other processes for long without a direct order from Adam, so he created a space suit for Birdy and tricked him to wear it.
“Oh that’s for me!! Thank you sir! I can’t believe I have a space suit! It’s so cool! How do I look Adam! Do I look strong! It’s too tight on the…”
The helmet of the suit covered Birdy’s head, and the sound was totally cut off from the outside. “that’s better, I can see now the torture you went through during those three months!” Keet sympathized with Adam’s painful experience for the wrong reasons.
Even though Adam didn’t correct him, he was never irritated by Birdy’s chattering, he felt it was like a background noise to him that helps him focus on what he thinks by not having to pay attention to what Birdy says most of the time.
“Where do we start the search! The last time I saw him was about 5 months ago! And he was never gone for that long before!” Adam casually said creating a miniature earth on his hand, which the symbiote surprisingly made it float.
The symbiote was still processing the gravitational fields manipulation, it turned out to be harder than anticipated due to the gravity stone’s fusion with the flesh and bones of Adam’s body, which decreased the purity of the material.
When a car fly, the engine core only needs to stimulate the pure stone in a specific way to produce the needed force in a specific direction. however, when Adam tries to do the same, his whole body reacts to the stimulation, because his whole body is now like one big less pure stone.
The reason he couldn’t control himself in the air, is that a stimulation calculated on his legs or torso will also stimulate his hands, which might produce an opposite force to what is intended.
“how much do you actually know about your father?” Keet and Birdy stared at the little floating planet on Adam’s hand, both of them surprised for different reasons. Birdy was moving his lips and hands with no sound coming out of the helmet on his head.
Keet on the other hand was trying to scan every cell and particle of Adam’s Body to understand how he’s doing this, what he didn’t understand with all his processing power and intelligence, is how a living being can produce gravitational energy.
In all his time, and in all his memories from before he died, he never heard of a successful alteration of living tissues properties, not to mention a whole new function altogether. Gravity stone is the only material known to man Kind that can produce or control gravitational fields, and many have tried to produce it or copy its properties to other materials, but to no avail.
“I only know what he taught me, but you know more, which is why I’m asking you.” Adam replied with his usual monotonous voice, not averting his vision from the Little ball on his hand, which somehow was stably floating, unlike what the symbiote revealed to him.
He noticed that the icon that represented the space displacement skill started to change on the side of his vision, so he focused on it and opened the skill tab.
[Space displacement skill: Recalculating properties, testing is required.]
Adam was confused, he was wondering about if the symbiote made a mistake, it previously changed the fabric control skill based on Adam’s preferences, and the skill works just fine, but now it seems to be struggling to understand the properties of this skill.
What Adam didn’t know was that it is completely new to mankind that a living being can produce a gravitational force, so the symbiote had no information about the subject whatsoever, which means that it needed to research from scratch.
“Your father said that he needs to take care of some business on planet Rinvar, that planet is known to be a dangerous area, it doesn’t only have monsters and dangerous atmosphere, it’s also the home planet for the most vicious clan out there, they practically own the planet and named it after their clan.”
“Are they strong? I mean in normal fights! Not including heavy weaponry.” Adam’s question surprised Keet, he expected Adam to ask about what business his father has with such people, or to worry about his father’s well-being, or something along that line, but Adam was interested in their strength instead.
“They are heavy weaponry themselves! Their least body modification includes several tons of physical force! There is a rumor that their boss destroyed an entire planet single handed.” Keet tried to scare Adam to divert his attention from the wretched path of seeking strength he can clearly see in his eyes, however, he knew that he failed when Adam’s eyes gleamed with the interest In what he said.
“Listen kid! You might have heard about the earth being protected by the alliance, which is why there’s peace on earth, but outside earth is a whole different story.” Keet still tried to change Adam’s mind. “Once we leave earth, there is no more law, and no more rules. Strength is dominant out there.” His words made the opposite effect on Adam, as he became more fixated on becoming stronger.
“We have work to do then!” Adam enthusiastically said. “Keet! Take us to a secluded spot that I can train in, and we need to find a way to get supplies and resources!”
Birdy noticed the same excitement he have seen before on Adam’s face, his face darkened slightly, as the last time it ended up with him getting zapped, and he couldn’t hear what they are saying, so he was a little scared.
“we have enough resources for a little more then three days, and there’s a good spot that your father owns on the planet, it’s a private island, so it’ll be safe.”
“If my father has a private island! Why aren’t we living there already?” The excitement on Adam’s face grew to a noticeable grin, owning land on earth meant that so much money and resources were spent to buy it, and so much more went into protecting it and making it safe and habitable.
“Because raising a child a thousand kilometers away from any living human is a bad idea!” Keet sighed while sinking into the chair he was sitting on, under the frightened eyes of Birdy, whose suit also melted down into the floor turning into nothingness.“A… Adam… your… friend! What happened… to him?! Was he a ghost!” Birdy jumped behind Adam for protection, visibly shaking in fear, he knew of the existence of cluster fabric, but he had no idea about its function, nor he ever seen it before. To him, the apex of technology, is the old machinery he helps Mr. Roland fix in his work shop. He often heard him talk about other things on the phone, however, he didn’t bother him with questions, to not make him angry, or annoy him and never find a job again.“Don’t worry Birdy! Keet is a friendly ghost.” Adam had many things on his mind, and wasn’t ready to explain the situation to Birdy, not when he himself didn’t fully understand the situation. “Keet! Give Birdy full access to the network and
On a small floating island among the heavy clouds, shaded by a net made from flexible steel wires with gabs smaller than a man’s head, Adam wearing a black armored space suit covering his entire body, was getting ready to start his flying test. This suit had a safety mechanism in its exoskeleton to prevent any excess bending of any joint, muscle, or bone, to avoid all injuries incase of impacts. He took a final nervous glance at his stats to make sure he have enough energy.[strength: 20.Stamina: 20.vitality: 20.energy: 199/200.]‘Can you change the energy stats back to percentage! It was easier to keep track of it.’ He sometimes found it confusing as he was used to the 100% energy system, and turning it into a point system sometimes made him read it wrong at first.[energy: 99.5%.]Feeling better with the modification, he started to focus on the skill, and moderately exerted some force.Keet was watching him but he didn’t manifest his human form, instead, he had several cables rea
Keet didn’t pay him any mind, he was focused on examining the anomaly in front of him, and Birdy wasn’t important to him at all. Living for almost three hundred years made him lose any attachment to human lives that didn’t have any significant to him. Keet wasn’t a cold artificial intelligence, but he wasn’t a human either, he was something in between. Birdy gathered what little courage and determination he had, and approached Adam with the intention of saving him from this unsightly torture, or at least lessen his sentence and share his pain. Sadly, he had too little courage, his knees buckled as he stepped on the vibrating platform and saw Adam’s face up close, several veins were visible on his tensed up neck, and blood red forehead, he was gritting his teeth in pain, sweat dripping from everywhere on him. “Boy! If you go near him you could get crushed by the gravitational field.” Keet calmly warned, not bothering to look at Birdy, he just didn’t want his death to interrupt the e
The invisible teardrop shaped vehicle was traveling at Mach 4, which is the maximum legal speed on earth, and also coincidentally, the maximum speed that a silent object can stealthily move without Creating a loud sonic boom that reveals its location.Adam and Birdy were comfortably resting inside their virtual reality capsule, while Keet was busy sorting the data he collected on Adam’s body.“The rules of the game are quite simple, you create an avatar, choose some powers or randomize them, and then dive into the world trying to survive as long as possible.” Birdy explained in the White space, barely containing his excitement to play the game with Adam.“What happens when you die!”“You lose every thing and must start over, new avatar, new powers, and new adventure!”The idea of the game interested Adam a little, he clicked on the game icon, instantly getting transferred to the game lobby with Birdy by his side.“I already tried it once and I got killed by a monster in a cave when I
“That’s an awesome power! I can control things with my mind like the smart villains in the comics, I love it!” Birdy’s excitement reached a whole new heights after reading the description of the telekinesis skill.Telekinesis skill tree: mentally manipulate and interact with objects or matter, can levitate, move, or directly control an object without the need of physical interaction, the amount of manipulation will depend on the size and weight of the object. Can be used on the user to levitate or move in the air, the speed and height will depend on the mental power of the user.Adam reading the description of the telekinesis skill, found it somewhat different from how the game described the Gyrokinesis skill. ‘maybe they needed emphasis on the idea that the skill is limited.’ He correctly thought, as the telekinesis skill was widely known to be overpowered, it had to be limited, otherwise no one would ever choose any other skill if they can just control everything with their mind.“O
Adam and Birdy spent the half hour in the testing chamber trying to find the best way they could use their skills together to achieve the best results.Adam’s Gyrokinesis level zero skill only worked by touching the object he wants to manipulate, and his manipulation limits would vary according to the object’s properties, for example, by spending ten mana, he could make a small dagger weigh 10 times its weight for 10 seconds, for each second less he could add a multiplier without spending more mana, if he makes the dagger weighs 20 times it’s weight without spending more mana, it would only last for a moment.Birdy’s telekinesis had a similar limitation, by spending 10 mana, he could make the same dagger fly around and dance in the air for 10 seconds, each second more would use 1 more mana, to throw the dagger at a target with a considerable force, he would spend 10 mana for just the split second of the throw. For both skills, the more the target weighed the more mana they spend, mana
After running a little more than 20 kilometers, taking a few rests along the way to restore their mana, they arrived at an entrance to a gap between two lush green mountains. on contrast to the mountains, the gap was dry, dark, and craggy. even though the sun was generous, illuminating the forest and the mountain hills diversely, the Rugged gap had an eerie dark ambiance, light seemed to fear the roaring of the wind like an angry Abomination through the rocky walls of the gap.Birdy stared at the scene with darkened eyes, swallowing a stubborn lump in his suddenly dried throat. “Are we going there?!” for a moment he hoped that Adam would be as cowardice as he is.“Of course! We ran all that distance, didn’t we?!” Adam nonchalantly answered his question, not oblivious to the eeriness of the place, in fact, it elated his curiosity, wanting to see how immersive the game can be.Birdy snapped his fingers producing a spark between them, instead of disappearing, the spark grew into a small
The lights of the outside blinded his eyes, but he memorized the way before hand, knowing that this would happen. “Birdy! Run away!” Adam shouted as loud as his vocal cords could vibrate, his eyes closed, shooting the air-gun at every chance he gets to accelerate, barely escaping the maw of the Beast.Sitting on a small tree branch, making a twig dance around in the air with his telekinesis skill, Birdy was startled with the sudden scream, as he saw Adam’s outlining figure emerging from the darkness in the far distance, he couldn’t figure what Adam was saying as he barely heard his scream among the echoes of the rocks and the howling of the wind. he hurriedly ran to the spot he was supposed to leave the clone in under the trap, trying to finish his role in the plan without even a second of hesitation.“Run away! It’s too big!” this time Birdy heard him clearly, but he was frozen and couldn’t react, behind Adam was something that terrified him, he felt the rush of adrenaline paralyzing
