Theo's Majestic Climb From Poverty To Riches

The slap

The door swung open for the effluent and noble partner in the Swiss hotel.

" Thank you, " The woman said. 

The woman was a regular customer at his hotel and every time she came in, tips Theophilus Hazyes off like a beggar;  which he wanted.

This was his third year working as a guard in this prestigious hotel owned by his in-laws, the Wright family.

He was born into a poor family but ended up with an unknown family who wanted him, though his adopted parents, who had everything in life mistreated them.

Stupidly enough, he fell in love with a big man's daughter.

Is it a sin to fall in love with a rich man's daughter? 

To the world's greatest surprise, she reciprocated his love. 

Gemma Is a very classy girl who feeds, dwells and lives on expensive things. Although she was born with a silver spoon, he still had to cater for her and spend all his earnings on her.

And now, he's keeping this tip, to balance the money for his wedding expenses.

Theo leaned his head on the wall, focusing on his job to have enough money and get the better things for her when his gaze caught an expensive Lamborghini parking in front of the hotel.

" Seems like this is going to be a big catch. I hope the owner blesses me with a juicy tip...I can't wait to bring exotic delicacies to her " He blushed sheepishly.

He was about to put on his best act so far when he saw the man majestically coming out of the car, with his fiancee!!!

" Gemma?? " Theo said faintly.

His eyes couldn't possibly be seeing this. Theo cleaned and squinted his eyes but it was none other than Gemma.

" Theo, calm down!! " He said, lowering his head.

He shrugged off the fuzzy feeling that he was having and assumed that he was a business partner or her long-lost friend.

He heaved a heavy sigh and raised his head. Alas!! They were kissing passionately without regard to the view of others.

Theo's face turned instantly pale and stormed to the scene to end the ruckus.

Still enveloping in their embrace, Theo stepped in and aggressively pushed the man away causing him to hit his back on the car.

" What the hell!! " He cursed, groaning in pain. 

He gritted my teeth in anguish, shot daggers at the man, and later averted his gaze to Gemma.

" Gemma!! What is all this? Who is this man? Why…. " He said, trying to gather his words.

Gemma, who was flashing him a spiteful look, sighed and clutched her bag. She hummed and went past him, 

" Richard!! Are you ok? " She said sweetly, slowly picking up the trashed dude on the floor.

Theo clicked his tongue and turned around, watching his fiancee ignoring him.

" Who is this wimp you are with? Kissing and embracing!! " He screamed at the top of his lungs.

" Hold it there!! Don't you dare talk to me like that? If I may ask. who are you? Where do you belong? Does the president of America know you? " She sneered.

Theo was at a loss for words and also broken. He wasn't expecting this kind of insult from Gemma? Why was she acting so strange?

He questioned her, " What are you saying? I know what I saw!! " 

" And so?? " She shrugged.

The man beside her, Richard, who was busy glaring at Theo, walked over to him with his hands tugged into his pockets.

" You dare to push me away from my babe " He sat poking him on his chest.

" Babe?? "

Gemma nodded her head, and a sneaky smirk appeared on her face.

What was going on at this point? Is it a dream or a reality? 

" So, what are you implying? What are you trying to tell me? What have I done wrong? "

Those questions seemed hilarious to Richard, so he burst into laughter.

" Everything about you is wrong? Your personality and financial status. Everything is just baseless. I mean, what can you offer a Quyen like this? You should probably go to jail because you have committed a big crime by putting her in her custody under harsh conditions. It was a kidnap. "

Thoe raised his eyebrows and averted his gaze to Gemma, " I didn't do anyone of that, we both loved….

Shockingly, she cut him off," Enough with the theories without conclusion there. I never said I loved you. You were just a play toy in my world. " 

" Play toys?? I don't understand. We had chemistry. We are going to get married in a few weeks " He said bummed.

Out of a sudden, Gemma and Richard started laughing their lungs out, 

" Lol. Of course, I'm still getting married to Richard. Our life together is more of a dark fairytale. I just wanted to have fun with you and experience what poverty feels like. Honey, you were just a test monkey for my upcoming film " 

His world crashed before him when he heard that. Yes, Gemma was an upcoming actress, but how could she think of hurting him?

Theo lowered his head in disappointment, " So, that's why you thought you could hurt me " He said softly.

He screamed again after finding another reason why she shouldn't leave him, " What of your parents? Why would they say that? Huh "

Gemma smiled and said, " Did you forget I'm an actress? Those people were also actors. My dad is the CEO of this company, and he doesn't stay home. The man you've been seeing every day in the company is my dad. He only knows Richard, not you. "

She came closer to him, placed her hand on his shoulder, and said, " I assumed that poor people who struggle don't have emotions. I mean there'd have been an exception if only you were rich. But, you are not rich, that's why I dumped your ass. "

He raised his head and saw her smirking. 

She called out to Richard , and they went past him into the hotel leaving Theo shattered.

He said to himself, " Gemma!! Why we you doing this? All because of money??"

His mind was far from Earth, but then someone walked up to him shouting his name, " Theo!! Theo !! "

He was jolted from his thoughts and answered with a faint voice, "What??"

" The boss is coming in!! "

TWO DAYS LATER

It was a day of misery and brokenness, two times in a row. He was already dressed in his uniform yet wasn't willing to go to work.

He loved his job, but ever since Gemma broke up with him, it was never the same anymore. Besides, he sees her every day with Richard and it grosses him out.

" I should keep up with those things. Later, I'll find a reputable job but first I'll have to teach Richard a lesson " He said with a dangerous smirk.

He went outside his small house and waited for the bus, he didn't see one so he began to think about what he'd do to Richard.

Being engrossed in his thoughts, he didn't see the fast car coming towards him.

He raised his head and heard a sound, "whoosh" and fell to the ground unconscious.
