Surprise for Everyone

That beast seemed dissatisfied with just wrapping around my body as tightly as it could. Now with the help of four clawed legs, it makes my body roll around. The more I rolled around, I felt my body getting more painful. It did it not just for fun torturing its prey, but to make my body break down much faster. I won't be able to survive this condition.

As I rolled over, I realized that the snake was rolling me over my burning bonfire. At first glance, I could see slime between the embers, and through Rex's memory, I knew it was this beast that put out my bonfire. This giant-legged snake is one of the highly intelligent beasts. He is so smart that he is able to calculate what he will do to attack me with very little chance of failure.

This snake must have been attracted by the fire I lit. He knew when there is fire, there are people. However, it is not a creature that dares to face fire, even though its hard and thick scales are not affected by the hot coals. Because of that, I guessed it had spat the fire while I was asleep, then ambushed me when it believed I was weak and powerless.

This creature likes to have fun, so it didn't want to wrap around my body when I was still sleeping. He likes a challenge. Indeed, this is a very annoying ugly creature. And now I can no longer think straight. Even though I was able to dig up information about this ugly creature from Rex's memories, I still couldn't find its weakness. Rex even forgot what his name was. I wanted so badly to swear at Rex, to tell him to study harder next time, but it was no use.

Now Rex and I are really going to die. I started to feel that it was hard to breathe and my bones ached, they might break any minute. The beast's hiss sounded like a laugh, laughing at the moribund me. My head was spinning from being tossed around and I couldn't think anymore. However, there is one thing that is my hope now, the golden tree!

With great difficulty, I tried to focus my mind. Slowly I could see the golden tree glow and hover in front of my face. In my heart, I begged the golden tree to release its power now. 'Come on!' I begged, groaning in pain. It was so painful, I couldn't even scream. My painful moans sounded so weak, like a mouse in a snake's coils. I squeaked like a mouse.

However, even though I felt like I was dying, the golden tree remained silent, not helping me at all. Just shining brightly in my mind. Have I run out of opportunities to ask for a miracle? Who knows. But now my pleas have turned to anger.

"Help me, dammit!" I shouted in a choked voice.

Right after, I felt my lungs, unable to take in any more air. I started to feel my surroundings go dark and my ears were ringing. A ray of light from the golden tree is still visible in front of me and I really hope for a miracle.

I closed my eyes, resigned to death that would pick me up. However, I don't know when I suddenly felt the coils on my body loosen. My lungs can pump air again and I open my eyes. My body glowed once again, causing the snake to loosen its hold on me. However, since this light is not hot, the beast refuses to let me go. It hissed angrily as it pressed its two front legs full of sharp claws into my chest.

“Argh! Damn it!” I shouted.

Fresh blood came out of the wound caused by its sharp claws. Pain pierced the skin of my chest. However, I saw my chance when it got angry and loosened its grip on me. I glanced and found my knife not far from where I lay. I immediately took the knife and quickly tried to stab it into his body which was still wrapped around me. Missing even a little, I probably would have killed myself, but I did it head-on. Too bad, the skin is too tough for a knife like this to penetrate.

The beast no longer hissed, it opened its mouth while growling angrily at me. I had no idea that he could open his mouth that wide. Maybe the width of its mouth is twice the length of my head, even though its size is not as big as the giant snake I saw before. Maybe like the python I saw in my world.

“Golden tree! Help me!” I shouted. I don't know why I did that, but I'm really desperate. Hoping something happens so I can beat this snake.

Suddenly, I felt heat coming out of my palm and it made the knife I was holding literally burst into flames. I quickly stabbed my knife back into the neck of the snake that was opening its mouth. The fire allows my knife to penetrate its hard scales. In that instant, I knew that I had won this fight. The snake unhooked itself from my body and fell limply to the ground.

I also fell limply to the ground after killing the snake. I looked up at the sky and found that the moon was barely visible. Soon the dawn will break and maybe I'll be safe. A moment later, I was completely unconscious.

The blinding light seemed to penetrate my eyelids and woke me up. I immediately rose to a sitting position. I feel so much better now that the sun is shining and those damn bloody marks are gone. I was still surrounded by dead beasts and according to Rex's memory, I had to hurry back to the shelter before the vulture-like beasts came. In this world, scavenger beasts would come in the morning.

Quickly, I packed up everything I could, including the damn four-legged snake. Rex's body is much stronger now, moves much faster, and somehow I can know the right direction to the shelter. I quickly ran, dodging beast attacks that might come at any time. Even though it's already bright, I'm still alone, so I have to hurry.

In a few minutes, I could already see the shelter in the distance. It will probably be a surprise to everyone if I make it to the shelter safely. I ignored anything that might be stalking me, my focus was on getting to the shelter as quickly as possible while carrying all my equipment. They'll probably punish me once I get there but I don't care. The punishment will be much better than dying in the wilderness and becoming the dinner of beasts.
