Faust continues the journey toward the deeper part of the cave. Even though he experienced a cycle of a nightmare, Faust didn't flinch. Some people might immediately run away and left the cave, but Faust is different, he builds up the courage to walk inside the cave. What he gained in the first trial is strength, though it is not physical, it basically strengthens his mind. The ability to accept death is something that few people have and Faust just earned it after the first trial. With that newfound courage, he dives deeper into the cave until he reaches the second trial. If the first trial is about fear, the second trial is about regret. That is right!
