“I am not interested in a fiefdom.”

That statement alone shocked all the people in the room except Haaken.

Not only Cole just stated that he is not interested in a whole estate that will ensure that he will have a good life, he also gives them a vibe that he will not work under Adam.

The soldier and Maurice felt tense, because they thought that Cole might one day be their enemy but Adam felt tense for another reason.

Adam wanted to know what Cole wanted more than a fiefdom.

“Instead of a fiefdom… I’ll take several slaves instead… a thousand sounds good.”

Actually Cole just blurted out the number, if 400 slaves is an easy number for Adam he thought he should just ask for a thousand.

(If I have at least a thousand people, this might give me breathing room for recruitment.)

However, Adam showed a concerned look.

“But… without a fiefdom… where would they live?”

“Hmmm… let me worry about that.”
