Chapter 4

The man in front of him is Alvis Johansen, a merchant who has trade connections in both the countries of Norway and Sweden. Lucas had a chance encounter with the man as said merchant was going through the forest for securing a deal. Unfortunately for the merchant he was ambushed by bandits but fortunately for Lucas he was in the area going through his training when it happened.

He saved the man and defeated the bandits and the merchant in response was quite pleased with him. After that the two of them would see each other from time to time as the merchant had taken quite a liking to Lucas due to him saving his life and him being much different than the other nobles.

While Alvis was a good businessman he isn't treated that greatly by the other nobles due to him not being from a noble family in the country. Due to this he had taken quite a liking to Lucas due to him treating him like any other person. He liked him even more when he saw Lucas' potential in the business department.

Lucas used his position as a noble to learn about the states of the matters in the country and the market and using that information helped Alvis in boosting his business. Though of course Lucas didn't trust the man fully as he just wasn't going to let his guard down towards a merchant. Of course, Alvis considered it as a good characteristic as putting faith in a merchant he had met was too naive.

"So what information do you have for me this time?" Alvis asked him.

"Well it isn't much but I presume you know about the growing tension between the kingdoms of Norway and Sweden." Lucas asked him as he sat on the sofa in front of the merchant.

"Yes it has been going around in the merchant circles. Unfortunately, I am unable to get ahold of any information about that matter." Alvis said to him.

"Yes well, you are aware that the Kingdom's of Norway and Sweden came into being 400 years ago due to a dispute between the prince's of the King who ruled over the combined empire of both kingdom's. And due to this fact the royal families of both the kingdoms are quite antagonistic with eachother. Even though it has lessened in the 400 years the pride they have as royal families do not let them just say that they are at fault." Lucas said to them.

"Yes I am aware. A problem with most of the noble and royal families is that they have too much pride and won't admit their mistakes even if it's their fault." Alvis said with a sigh.

"Yes, due to that fact the animosity between the families hasn't lessened but what really changed them was the recent dispute of the land. I presume you're aware about it." Lucas said to the merchant.

"Yes it is not that much of a secret to us merchants. A few soldiers of Norway managed to find a cave rich in minerals and gems. But the problem was that the cave also opened into the territory of the Sweden kingdom and has now resulted in a dispute over the land and it's resources.

"I suppose I shouldn't expect anything less. Yes that is true, and from what I managed to gather the two royal families and powerful noble families are fighting to prove their superiority to the other. Due to this fact both the kingdoms have come to the verge of war and neither royal family seems to want to yield." Lucas said to him.

"I truly wonder what the future of the two kingdoms will be." Alvis said to him.

"As far as I can see it isn't a great. Neither of the kingdoms will be willing to back down, more so when it is a cave containing minerals and gems. I suggest you stock up on food and other related products. If war does break out then the kingdom will want supplies and you can give it to them. And even if war doesn't happen you can still sell the products." Lucas said to him.

"That is true. I have also decided to buy some metals for myself as well. If the situation escalates any further then both the kingdoms will be at war and will want more metals for their weapon's. If all goes well, then I will manage to make great profit from it." Alvis said to him.

"It would seem so." Lucas said agreeing with him.

After that the two went into extensive talks about the way they would do business and increase the profits that they will be able to get from the business. After one and a half hours they seperated and went to their own homes. Lucas made up an excuse about going around the city to enjoy it and his parents didn't find it suspicious since he would go to the city from time to time.

After that the rest of his time was spent in learning and training in both his magic and martial arts. He did extensive training since he didn't want to make a fool of himself in the arena. He wasn't going to look down on his opponent so he made sure to train his techniques. That was the way most of his day had went as he trained himself more.

In the evening he received a letter and was now currently in his room as he opened the letter to read it. He looked at the one who sent it and smiled as he saw the name. He opened the envelope and placed it aside as he looked at the letter.

The letter read as follows:

[Master Lucas, I have managed to get the information as you had instructed and was able to send this letter to you. I'm sorry to inform that it took some time since it was getting quite busy in the country with the dispute over the land. But I have gained the necessary information you needed. As you had surmised, the royal family of Sweden do not wish to yield to the country of Norway and it has been going around the commander's that the kingdom might go at war if the dispute escalates any further. Though it seems that the royal family has some plans and don't wish to go to war at the moment. I don't know what it is but I would advice you to be careful of the royal family.

I hope you receive this letter without any obstructions.]

Lucas read the letter seriously before going into deep thought.

'It seems that the royal family is plotting something. But what could it be that they're thinking of doing. I should be careful and make sure that I won't be caught by surprise.' Lucas thought to himself with a serious look.

He looked at the envelope in his hand knew things were about to heat up.
