Chapter 5

Lucas then read the letter again carefully before he burned both the envelope and letter with magical fire to ensure no one knows about it. He then sat on his couch as he thought about all the information he had gotten. Though it wasn't much he was someone who believed that knowledge is power and is needed if one needs victory.

'If what I know about both kingdom's is true then it will not be much time before they go to war with eachother. There's going to be many casualties in the war and maybe some of the members of the noble families might perish at the war. If that happens then I might be able to use that chance to increase the strength of my own clan.' Lucas thought to himself.

Then he thought about the tension between the two kingdoms about the piece of land which both are debating for. That particular information stuck in his mind.

'Wait, if both the kingdoms are focusing on that particular land then doesn't that mean the other territories aren't under that tight supervision. If that's the case then I might be able to use this time to my advantage.' Lucas thought to himself as he got up as he looked outside.

"If all goes well then I might have a chance to rise in power. I can't help but feel that something is wrong with all of this. I mean, how did that cave go unnoticed all this time considering the fact that it wasn't even sealed. Either I'm being too paranoid or there is something bigger going on around here." Lucas said seriously as he looked at the setting sun.

The next day Lucas had donned a disguise and was checking out the borders of the two kingdoms and had found some interesting things in there. He was currently at an unguarded border which wasn't used much as he was crouched on the ground as he looked at what seemed to be tracks.

He searched around the area for sometime and then used his magic to teleport out of there. He then appeared at an area southwest of Norway as he also found tracks there.

"These seem more recent and judging by how deep the ground is it was something heavy or it was in large quantities. I better keep an eye on these two places. I can't have any variables in this." Lucas thought to himself as he investigated the area and then left the place again.

His next destination was the cave which had minerals and gems in it. It was heavily guarded but he was able to go past the guards using illusion magic which he used to mask his presence. He entered the cave and went deeper into it and was met with many ores of minerals and gems. His eyes widened a bit when he saw the scenery but narrowed them as he looked at the ores.

"As I thought something fishy is going around here." Lucas said as he looked at the ores.

At first he didn't see anything wrong but after looking at them more closely he could see the traces of magic on the ores. Since it was too faint and he was not still that proficient in magic he couldn't find the source. But it was clear that these ores were created or formed due to someone else's machinations.

And it was rather convenient that both of the kingdoms discovered the came in a short while. Lucas had a very serious look on his face as he contemplated what he had seen. He knew that whoever did this wanted the two kingdoms to go to war and was certain he was very proficient in magic.

"Well, it looks like things are getting much more complicated." Lucas thought to himself as he had a nervous look as he went around getting more information.

Now it is the day for Lucas' duel with Oskar Rehbindr. During the 2nd day before his duel he had been training and also investigating around the land where the cave filled with minerals and gems was located. He had found traces of magic in the ores of the minerals and gems and the cave which only made him more suspicious about the whole thing. He had also did some investigating around his own territories and had found signs of movement between the territories of Norway and Sweden.

He was getting more suspicious of the happenings around the kingdom. He knew he had to be vigilant about the things that is happening in the kingdom. Right now he was at the waiting room waiting to be called by the people for his match in the arena. He was dressed in armor covering his chest, shoulders, arms, legs and iron boots. He also had a longsword which he was twirling in his hands relatively easily.

He was thinking about his plans for the not so near future when he heard his name being called. In response he sheathed his sword and started walking towards the arena as his armor was clanking as it met with the floor. He reached the door was he was met with the large number of people who were present to watch the duel.

He could see that the people sitting at the top were wearing clothes of the high class. There were knights in the arena who were ready to protect the nobles if the need arises. He also managed to find his parents among the people as they nodded to him with encouraging eyes while his mother also seemed a bit worried. There were also middle class citizens towards the bottom of the arena as they had come to watch the match.

He then looked at the place where the royal family was seated guarded by knights. At the middle was the King, Arvid Von Ascheberg, who was seated on a large throne which was decorated a bit. He had silver hair which reached his shoulders, red eyes and a beard and moustache along with a crown. He was in his kingly garbe as he had a serious look. He was eyeing Lucas as he walked.

Then he turned his eyes to the queen Signe Von Ascheberg. She was seated to the left of the king in a throne which was a bit shorter than the kings. She had light blonde hair and blue eyes as she had a tiara on her head as her head was in a ponytail. She was dressed in a queenly dress which showed her grace and beauty. She looked at Lucas with curious eyes.

Then Lucas'gaze finally fell on the princess Olivia Von Ascheberg. She had the characteristic silver hair of the royal family and piercing red eyes. She had a smaller tiara than her mother as her hair reached down to her waist. The light from the sun made her hair glow. She was wearing a princess's dress which was the colour of silver. She had a serious look on her face as she had an air of superiority around her as she looked at Lucas.

Lucas met her gaze but immediately broke it in favour of looking at his opponent who was walking closer to him. Oskar was walking to Lucas with shining armor as an arrogant grin was plastered on his face. His armor was mainly red with gold linings. He also had a one handed sword in his waist as he stood a few metres in front of Lucas.

'Well, let's get this show on the road.' Lucas thought to himself as placed him hand on the hilt of his sword.
