Chapter 31
Mark rubbed his temples, feeling a headache coming on. He was getting tired of Elisa's constant drama and complaining. Every time he tried to talk to her about her music, she would vent about William and the tasks he was giving her.

"Can't she just focus on her craft for once?" Mark thought to himself.

Mark decided to go the the bank and get a loan since Elisa didn't seem to be giving him any hope.

As he approached the loan officer's desk, a sense of trepidation settled in the pit of his stomach. He had tired before but had been rejected, but he had hoped that his own creditworthiness would be enough to secure a small loan.

"Sorry, Mark," the loan officer said with a sympathetic smile. "We can't approve a loan for you right now. Your company's stock has been...unstable, to say the least."

Mark felt a surge of frustration. Unstable was one way to put it – the stock had been in freefall for months, and his father was on edge.
