Chapter 233- No evidence

Jeremy emerged from the room, his fury evident in every step. He whipped out his phone, his fingers flying across the screen as he dialed a familiar number.

"Jefferson," he growled as soon as the other party answered. "I thought you told me you had placed your best men here to guard Edward. How could a single man have gotten past them and taken them all out?" His voice, fueled by rage, carried across the night air, the echo of his words hanging like a judgment.

Jefferson's voice crackled through the phone, his tone contrite. "I'm sorry, boss," he replied, the weight of his failure evident in his words. He had already been informed of the events by one of his men on the convoy.

"I don't want excuses, Jefferson," Jeremy snapped. "I want answers. How could this have happened? The Nathaniels special forces are not known for incompetence, and this... this is a colossal failure."
