"What could be more precious than the gift I've given?" Steve taunted, his arrogance palpable.

Jeremy, however, remained unfazed. With a smile, he reached into his pocket and pulled out a wristwatch, eliciting laughter from the onlookers who couldn't believe that he had presented such a mundane item.

"You couldn't even afford a proper box for the watch," Mrs. Peters chortled, her amusement apparent.

Mrs. Williams, ever quick to defend herself, chimed in with her derisive comment, "Not only is the gift lacking in value but so is the way it's presented. It's clear that Jeremy's ideas are as impoverished as his social standing."

She felt a burning rage, having witnessed yet another humiliation at Jeremy's hands. It seemed the young man had an uncanny talent for disrupting their status quo and making fools of the Williams.
