Ms. Turner who was still Miriam’s secretary was returning from work. Her shoulders sagged with exhaustion and her body was weighed down by the toll of her long work hours.

The fact that Miriam was on a break made life a little easier for her at work. She hated having a boss and more so a woman like Miriam as her boss. There was something about Miriam that just made her reek of hatred for her.

The sound of rain drumming on the roof was very loud and the air was damp and heavy. The ground was saturated and puddles were forming on the floor. She was lucky that she had the rain had not started much earlier but it was when she had almost gotten to her home that the rain started pouring heavily.

Suddenly, the unmistakable sound of her phone ringing jarred her into action as she dived her hand into her bag to pick it up.

“Very good job so far, Ms. Turner,” a voice spoke through the phone.

Ms. Turner knew at once that it was a receiver. Ms. Turner took cover under a large tree which offe

She shrieked. It was Paul - her boss. Her mind was racing with a deadly rhythm of fear and her heartbeat was a drumbeat of panic.“Hello, hello, Ms. Turner, are you still there?” the receiver’s voice from the phone which had fallen to the ground erupted into the air.“Hello, hello, hello.”The line soon disconnected after a few unanswered hellos.Paul gestured menacingly with sharp and aggressive dark eyes, his hand slicing through the air in command for her to use her feet to toss the phone over.Ms. Turner’s brain was refusing to accept the reality of what she was seeing and her emotions were a river of fear and confusion. What was her boss looking for in her house pointing a gun toward her? What the hell was happening? What does he know? Did he know that she was an undercover employee? Did he already know that she was a member of Kazitanis?Ms. Turner’s mind was filled with unanswered questions. But she took a deep breath trying to contain her fear. Perhaps there was some

Paul knew that the moment he left, Ms. Turner was going to call the Kazitanis and inform her of his whereabouts since she had now told him the address. With a sudden burst, he slammed the phone on the ground and used his boots to crush it into pieces before picking up the SIM card. Paul retracted his gun into its place before he strode toward the door, his footsteps echoing.“You forgot to give Ghizzy his medicine,” Ms. Turner said, her words tumbling out in a rush as she pleaded. “Please don't go without giving my pet dog his medicine. He would die.”Ms. Turner’s gaze was going back and forth on tension as she took a glance towards the corner where her dog lay undisturbed and unresponsive to stimuli.“Oh, I didn't forget Ms. Turner. Just that—-” Paul’s brain hitched as if he recollected an idea.“Instead of allowing your dog to die, I will go with her. She seems cute,” Paul said with his tone measured with slight mockery before walking over to where the dog lay motionless. The dog w

***Rows of cargo trucks stretched out were seen by Paul as he found that there was barely anyone there. Towering cranes loomed over some of the trucks in a sublime precision. It seemed like the customs who would usually protect the terminal had left for the Kazitanis to come and pick up the cargo trains that had been contaminated.Paul’s gaze darted to and fro as he looked to make sure that no one was looking at him. He needed to find out the trains that had the Imperial Society products. He knew that they would be covered in the Imperial Society Logo and he knew what kind of trains they used for transportation so he sharpened his eyes. He had to be as precise and quick as possible - the Kazitanis could come in any moment if they had not already even come and take the trucks.Paul scanned the terminal, his mind racing as he wondered if he had missed out on the trucks. He moved with the swiftness of a mouse and his feet moved with a rapid shuffle, jerking his head from side to side

The conversation was one of mockery and disdain as the words made their way into Paul’s ears. The Kazitanis were approaching closer and closer this time.Paul’s ears picked up the unmistakable sound of weaponry in the distance and the noise sent a shiver down his spine. Paul’s senses were on high alert and he knew that it was war that was coming for him.Paul’s mind was a whirlwind of competing ideas, each one vying for his attention as his thoughts were jumbled up. Should he dart towards the driver’s wheel area and forcefully drive the vehicle out of the terminal? How was he even going to do that as quickly as possible without getting a host of gunshots in his direction - and that was even if he was quick enough? Driving the truck away from the terminal with the very limited time that he had was even very risky because there were many other trucks around there which was always going to be very difficult to navigate through until he was able to get out. It would take at least 5 min

How am I supposed to know if you were careless or not?”“Do you think I am like you who would do things recklessly? Don't think I don't know about the instructions that were given to you that you didn't do,” Boarus spoke, raising an eyebrow and tilting his head as his tone was implying a challenge to the original accusation of him being careless about the padlock.Upalima’s face flushed red with anger as he vehemently as he vehemently denied the allegation. “What the hell are you talking about? Are you stupid? Are you crazy? Why the hell would I be given an instruction and I wouldn't obey.”“Do you know how long I have been working with Kazitanis? They were unresponsive as they lay on the ground and their lips slacked in absolute lifelessness.Zilinzky’s breath hitched with a horrified gasp of shock as he turned his gaze toward Hoestes who had shot the gun.“Come on, man. Camille wasn't going to back down though. She wanted to administer judgment and that was exactly what she was going to do.“Well, as delicate as this situation which has put the whole medical institute in is, what I find totally unacceptable is the fact that your negligence comes from a place of very reckless and stupid decisions.”Ms. Selena’s lips pressed into a tight line as a storm of rage built within her. She better not talk about Morris.“We conducted some investigation both in the doctorate department and outside of it. We found out that you were not in the right state of mind when you were administering the injection,” Camille said.“What do you mean by that Miss?” Ms. Selena spoke, her lips curled in a manner that seemed like she was offended. It was the first time that Ms. Selena had made a full statement sing she got into Camille’s office.“Oh, I think you know about it. You can't tell me that you are not aware. You may be my boss but we have a board of directors and they are responsible for such decisions.”“Absolute nonsense!” Camille rebuked.“I have been here long before you Ms. Camille. Don't forget that. I know how this place is run even before you came here. Just because you have an affair with the head of the institute, Paul Leonard doesn't mean that young have all the advantage because we can still destroy you,” Ms. Selena responded.Camille noticed that Ms. Selena kept saying “we” and it led her to a realization that she had many enemies within the medical institute. He kept hearing them call out a Red Witch. He had heard the word more than twice already since his eyes fluttered open and from the conversation that his ears were able to pick, it seemed as if the Red Witch wasn’t just an ordinary person. It could be one of their leaders, he thought. Or could it be the person that was assigned to kill him and render whatever punishment they had against him?Paul was suddenly shocked when he received a huge flow of water attacking him on his face. Sarah couldn’t help but defend herself. She wasn’t just going to keep quiet and allow things to happen to her. She had to speak up and defend herself, she thought.“I brought the antidote that is now the reason why you are alive. I suffered a lot and risked a lot to get the antidote. I had an agreement with Janet, Frank, and Thomas but they haven’t told me anything,” Sarah stammered in panic, her words tumbling out rapidly as she tried to explain herself. “I don’t deserve this treatment and I don’t understand why you have to force me here as if I shouldn’t be one of the partakers of the good things of Winston Corporation. If you knew what I did to get the antidote for you, you probably wouldn’t be treating me this way. What else do I have to do to prove that I deserve my previous position back.”Janet retorted. “Liar! Liar! You cannot get your previous position back. You are a rotten piece of dirt!l Janet retorted.”Janet was always upset by the fact that Sarah was desperate to get h

Sarah’s voice was breaking because she wondered what she said that was wrong. “Y-e-s.”“What?!” Arianna fumed. “What exactly are you still doing at the inner chamber? You have already made the mistake of giving them the antidote but what business do you still have there?”“I just think that maybe they would—-” Sarah’s voice was breaking with tension.Arianna spoke over her in a loud frothing. “You think what exactly? What exactly do you think? Are you still delusional enough to think that Lady Winston would give you the requests that you asked for?”Arianna’s tone was insistent and her expression furious as she rendered a warning. “What exactly are you still there for when they have already shown you the writing on the wall? Oh my goodness!”“You had better start running away from there because if the history of your family’s wickedness is anything to go by, then it won’t be long until they arrest you and even do much worse to you than they wanted to do before. Do you think Lady Winst

Wait, don’t tell me that you tried to get the antidote from him to help Lady Winston.”Sarah bit her lips again because she didn’t know how to answer the question. “That’s exactly what I did,” she finally spoke out.“My goodness!” Arianna spoke out loud, her voice ringing with a loud echo from the phone as she conveyed her disappointment. “I thought that Paul already gave you a new and improved job. What happened that would make you go back to the same mess that you were coming from.”“I just couldn’t find it comfortable there. I couldn’t stop thinking about Winston Corporation. I thought that I felt at home at Winston Corporation,” Sarah attempted to justify herself, her voice faltering because she realized the fault in her argument.“Can you even listen to yourself?” Arianna seethed, her voice rising with a cold anger and tinged with disappointment. “You are somehow trying to justi

“Do you really think that I will listen to her deceits? She has seen that Paul can do no good for her and now she wants to return to where she made a life. Oh, how foolish does she think we would be.”“In any case, I am glad that she came right into our hands because now she will get the punishment that she escaped narrowly before. Who would have thought that she would come right under our nose so easily for us to dismantle her.”Janet's cheek flushed with happiness as she smiled brightly, her eyes shining with excitement.Of course, neither she nor her brothers had the intention of fulfilling the pact that they had with Sarah. They were all trying to get the antidote and now that Lady Winston was back in a healthy condition, they could do away with Sarah. In fact, Frank and Thomas especially were expecting Lady Winston not to suspend the punishment that she had earlier placed on her.“Come to think of it. Where is she now? Where did she go? “ Lady Winston asked. They all turned the

She recalled that she had forgotten the gun that Arianna gave to her in Doctor Lopez’s office. That gun was the evidence that was going to stand against her if Doctor Lopez died. Her mind started reeling with desperate thoughts. What if she had committed murder all for nothing? Was she going to lose on both ends? How long was she going to keep foolishly trusting her family to back her up and then proving that they were always going to stab her in the back?An investigation was going to be carried out into what happened with Doctor Lopez, she reasoned. They were going to trace it to her and tell Paul about it. She couldn't imagine how disgusted Paul was going to feel to learn that she had betrayed him even much more intentionally this time. The inner chamber had high ceilings adorned with intricate carvings. The walls were lined with tapestries and brilliant decorations conveying a sense of power and prestige. Frank and Thomas led Lady Winston until she reclined on a sumptuous chair
