CHAPTER 06.PUTTING HIM IN CHECK.

Diana pulled into the garage of her father's mansion, parked her car, and exited, slamming the door in anger. The news of Harry's swift involvement with another woman and his ownership of L&M Hotels didn't sit well with her, especially after she confirmed it herself,She left her partner behind and drove home.

"Good day, Miss," a servant greeted with a smile, but Diana ignored it. Others wisely refrained from greeting, noticing her angry and crimson expression. They knew better not to say a word.

She stormed into the sitting room of Mr. Damon's sitting room, jolting everyone from their seats – her family. Her aggressive entrance as she slammed the door drew all eyes to her as she reached the couch and dropped her Birkin bag.

"Dad, Harry is out," she declared hastely, hissing after.

Mr. Damon and Mrs. Freya widened their eyes at Diane's words. "Out?" Mrs. Freya repeated, seeking clarification, and Diane nodded.

"Get me water," Diane ordered a maid, who promptly brought it and she drank it immediately.Diane cooled herself with it.

"Did you see him?" Mr. Damon asked, eager for Diane's response.

"Yes, I did. I met him in L&M Hotels!" Diane bellowed, and her parents were astonished.

"What do you mean by L & M Hotels?" Mr. Freya questioned, refusing to believe Harry could be near such an expensive establishment.

"Maybe he's in charge of work!" James, Diane's younger brother, chimed in, causing Diane to roll her eyes knowing what she saw.

"Exactly, maybe something like that," Mrs. Freya mocked. However, Diane wasn't amused; Jade's words still haunted her, fueled by her greed and desire to keep Harry away from Jade.”Wretched enough to own L&M” Jade's words still had a hurl on her and for once in her marriage with Harry she regretted divorcing him.Jades words haunted her.

"Were the police lenient enough to have let him go? Now, he's wandering the streets?" Mr. Damon thought aloud.

"Dad, what if the media sees him? That would bring back the whole case," James suggested, turning to his father, who was still at crossroads on what to do.

"Honey, you have to keep him in check!" Mrs. Freya remarked, concern etched across her face as she leaned in on the couch and causally changed the TV channel.

"I thought that low life would have rotted in jail. Who let him out in the first place? He needs to be put back before the media gets him, and rumors start to spread again," Mrs. Freya added.

"And I think he is the owner of L&M Hotels," Diane couldn't hold it any longer and blurted it out, hoping someone would support her delusion that Harry could never own something as significant as L&M hotels even if she knew it was true.

All eyes turned to Diane. Mr. Damon's jaw dropped, Mrs. Freya's eyes widened in astonishment, and she raised her brow in disbelief. Mr. Damon sat staring blankly at Diane,he felt as if he had been struck by lightning.

"L&M Hotels?" Mr. Damon bellowed, staring blankly at Diane, who had now slumped onto the couch, touching it as she leaned her head into her hands, evidence of how tired she was.

Mrs. Freya turned her gaze to her husband, fear and disbelief evident on her face. Her eyes intermingled with fear as she considered how rich Harry might be and the potential damage he could do to them.

Mr. Damon sat silently, taking in the new revelation he initially refused to believe. However, coming from Diane's mouth and seeing how tired she suddenly became after seeing him had said all he needed to hear.

The thought of Harry's revenge clouded his mind, but he refused to succumb.

"Dad, why don't you inform Mr. Martino and Mr. Steele?" James advised, and Mr. Damon quickly pulled out his phone to follow his son's suggestion.

Mr. Martino and Mr. Steele were Mr. Damon's friends and partners in Archer's company. As joint businesses with Mr. Damon as the founder, they stood as partners and earned their respective shares from the Archer's group.

Mr. Martino seemed more like a drug lord than a businessman, posing as a philanthropist, while Mr. Steele was a renowned politician involved in embezzlement and other shady businesses, presenting a patriotic persona to the public.

"Honey, he needs to be arrested and locked up, never to see the sky again!" Mrs. Freya insisted.

"Your election as a congressman is approaching, and if the media sees him, it would reduce your chances and jeopardize the well-being of Archer's group. The scaffold case would be brought back up again," she added slowly, hoping Harry would get arrested.

"Get me Pietro," Mr. Damon ordered a maid.

"Sir, he hasn't been seen for the last three days," she replied.

"What do you...?"

Mr. Damon swallowed his words and waved to the maid who was still standing while he dialed Pietro's number, but he wasn't picking up.

"If that low life isn't picking up, then I think you should call the police station directly," Mrs. Freya snapped, her frustration evident in her voice.

The tension in Mr. Damon's mansion was palpable after Harry's revelation. Every one of them was scared of him going to the media or coming for any of them.

A few minutes later, Mr. Damon slowly pulled the phone away from his ear after talking with the head of the police.

Seeing the startled and disappointed look on his face, Mrs. Freya curiosity piqued causing her to ask, "Honey, what happened?"

"He said Harry's release was secured by his superior," Mr. Damon replied weakly, his voice barely audible.

Mrs. Freya's jaw dropped, and she suddenly became pale. Her heart raced like a frightened deer. Is he really that rich? How did he get that rich? Different thoughts jumbled in her mind as she watched her husband gulp down coffee to calm himself.

"Honey, you need to inform Mr. Martino and Steele immediately," Mrs. Freya urged. Instead, Mr. Damon had his last gulp of coffee, then smirked broadly, piquing the interest of others.

"Honey?" Mrs. Freya knitted her brows, curious to know why her husband was smiling widely.

"Y'all don't need to panic; I've got this. Have you forgotten who I am? I can always put him back in check!" Mr. Damon boasted, while his wife and daughter exchanged nervous glances.

"Dad, what do you mean?" Diane finally asked.

"I've got a plan that would have him stay low for the rest of his life," Mr. Damon chuckled, laughing triumphantly.
