127 — THE SOLDIERS

By the time Akex got to the second half the of the mansion, he’d bypassed fifteen dead bodies and disarmed five men from the enemy camp.

The more enemies he fought with, the more he realised that these men had no experience whatsoever. Maybe he was right. Maybe their bosses just picked them from factories with the promise of monetary reward if they joined in the attack.

But what kind of rival mafia organisation went to war with unskilled men? What happened to their skilled soldiers?

Alex was about to walk round a bend in the dining room when he heard footsteps approaching. His fingers tightened over the gun in his grasp and he froze, waiting to catch whoever was coming off guard.

The moment the stranger’s booted feet came into view, he raised his gun and cocked it. He was just about to pull the trigger when a familiar head of brown hair came into sight.
