128 — THEIR BOSS

“There’s really no point of asking him these questions.” The first soldier argued. “Let’s just take him to the boss. He’ll know how to handle him.”

“No, you were right. I’m just a servant here. I work for the capo.” Alex cut in.

The soldiers eyed him with calculating looks. It was clear that they didn’t believe a word that came from his mouth.

“Move!” The second soldier finally commanded.

“Where are you taking me?”

The soldier’s eyes flashed. “You’re a prisoner. You have no right to ask questions.”

Alex clenched his jaw stubbornly and dug his heels into the ground.

“I'm here to see my capo. Unless you’re taking me to him, I have no business going anywhere with you.”

The soldiers exchanged glances, marvelled at his audacity.

“Who the hell do you think you are to challenge us?

“I never challenged you.”

The first soldier stepped closer, apparently fed up with his bullshit.

“If you don’t want me to shoot a bullet up your arse, I suggest you start moving in the direction I point you.”
