129 — GUNSHOTS

The boss finally turned around and Alex nearly did a double take.

Not only did scars mar one half of his face, he was also missing one eye. In place of the missing eye was a lifeless prosthetic that looked creepy as hell.

The boss abandoned the Capo and advanced towards them, his lips pulling in a smirk.

“Finally, someone who doesn’t recoil at the sight of my ugly ass face. I think I’ll keep you, boy.”

Alex stood his ground.

“Release my capo.” He said through gritted teeth.”

The boss burst into laughter.

“The audacity of this kid.” He said, patting his shoulder. “Who are you?”

“What are you going to do to them?” Alex asked, avoiding his question.

He shrugged. “Nothing much. I think I’ll keep his head.”

It sounded like he was joking, but Alex could dictate the note of seriousness in his tone. This man was a boss for a reason. He wasn’t playing around.

“Who are you?” Alex asked. “Who sent you here? I know you’re not part of any organised crime syndicate. Who are you then?”
